Puffy is a leading direct-to-consumer mattress dealer in the country. Puffy is proudly Canadian-owned, and operated. Its proprietary foam technologies like their Cooling Cloud foam or Climate Comfort foam have made it a leader in the bedding market.
While Puffy remains one of the premier North American mattress deals that specialize in fully foam mattresses, they are by far not the only players vying for customer attention. How does Puffy hold up against some of the other popular brands out there? Let’s see.

The Puffy Mattress: A Review What Mattress Is Comparable To Nectar
Before getting into any of the comparisons, it’s good to review the ins and outs of Puffy as a mattress company, so we have a better sense of how it stacks up compared to the competition.
There are many types of mattresses available
Puffy has two mattresses available on its website, the Puffy Original and the Puffy Lux. The mattresses are available in a variety of sizes from Twin to California King. The construction of both mattresses is identical, except for the Puffy Lux’s extra foam layer that raises its mattress height to 12 inches (compared to the Puffy Original’s 10 inches).
Each Puffy mattress starts with its Cooling Cloud foam, a proprietary foam composition made by Puffy that ensures an even transfer of heat while maintaining a soft plush to better support your body while it sleeps. Assisting the Cooling Cloud foam top layer are Climate Control foam and the pressure-relieving firm support base. The Climate Control foam acts as an additional intermediary between the top gel foam and the bottom support base while increasing the mattresses’ ability to regulate body temperature. The support base serves as the final foundation of the entire mattress, giving it structure and preventing you from sinking too deep into the bed. This whole mattress composition was designed with proper pressure relief, spinal alignment, and temperature regulation in mind.
The Puffy Lux comes with an extra layer of foam, the Plush Dual Cloud Foam. This foam gives you two additional inches and helps to ease tension from long days. Both the Puffy Lux, and Original are covered in hypoallergenic and grippy bottom and top mattress covers.
Price Point of Mattresses
When it comes to choosing the right mattress for you, price is going to be a major determining factor. Puffy’s pricepoint falls within the middle of the price spectrum, not too expensive yet not necessarily on the cheap side either.
An entry-level Puffy mattress, that is to say, their Twin sized original Puffy mattress, will set you back an easy CAD$750. But be warned that entering the Queen sizes and onwards will have you break the bank with over CAD$1,000 in costs. This goes double for the Puffy Lux mattress, which will reach over CAD$2,000 for the exact sizes as the original.
Let’s compare Puffy to other brands online, now that we have all the details.

Puffy Mattresses vs. Emma Mattresses
Emma is an online icon, thanks to their extensive use of online marketing. While Puffy is a proudly Canadian company, Emma’s source of their technologies comes from their German-born designs geared explicitly towards temperature control and spinal alignment.
Will this European-designed bed be able to ship anywhere?
There are many types of mattresses available
Emma Original uses a proprietary foam technology similar to Puffy. It is designed to provide a plush and soft feel while still maintaining the structure of a mattress. Their memory foam and latex technology are responsible for this hybrid and balanced softness. Airgocell, their leading foam used in all of their mattresses, is their most recent innovation. It is made to adapt to pressure and respond to the body’s movements while you sleep.
Emma’s visco elastic memory foam acts as a second layer between the Airgocell layer and the supporting base layer. Similar to Puffy’s Cooling Cloud foam construction, this layer is layered on top of the firm supportive core foam. Emma’s mattress’s supportive foundational foam, the bottom layer, has ridges around it. This is to help with spinal alignment and counter any pressure.
Unlike Puffy, Emma only sells the original version of their popular mattress. There is no Emma Lux or Emma Premier type, just the standard 10-inch mattress on which Emma pulls its entire catalog.
Pricing Point for Mattresses
Emma has only one type of mattress so it will be much easier to compare prices to Puffy’s original mattress. Emma makes it easier for customers to test their mattresses. Their entry-level price point starts at CAD$419, compared to Puffy’s CAD$700 twin-sized beds. Even Emma’s Queen-sized mattress is less expensive than Puffy’s twin.
Emma’s single mattress option eliminates the need for expensive options like Puffy. Emma has made it so that you don’t have to choose between the standard and premium versions.
Final Winner
Puffy has Emma beat when it comes to choice. They have their original and premium versions of their mattresses and additional bed accessories like coverings, sheets, pillows, and even bed bases.
Emma has one advantage over Puffy: the price. Emma comes in so much cheaper than Puffy while delivering close to the same type of premium comfort. Emma has similar customer protection plans, with warranties and trial plans identical to that of Puffy. Emma may be the right brand for you if you are new to the mattress market or don’t want to spend too much.

Puffy Mattresses vs. Nectar Mattresses
We now have Nectar, a proudly New York-raised mattress manufacturer. Nectar is a company that promises to deliver a range of mattresses directly to your home. It was once regarded as one of America’s fastest-growing ebusinesses.
Nectar has similar foam technology to Puffy, and offers a wider range of mattresses. Will this more extensive catalog be what brings Nectar above Puffy as a bed brand?
Types of Mattresses Available
Nectar offers 3 mattresses on its website. Each mattress can be purchased with different degrees of softness, plushness and material compositions. Already Nectar has Puffy beat with the number of choices, but it’s still to be determined if more choices equal a better mattress brand.
Nectar’s first mattress is their original Nectar Memory Foam 12-inch mattress. This mattress comes with five separate layers, again similar to how Puffy designed its foam mattresses. Their Nectar Smart Layer is the first layer. This gel memory foam helps relieve pressure due to its high density construction.
The Nectar Smart layer is supported by two additional foams: the Nectar Dynamic support Layer and their Stay Stable Support Layer. Both assist in stabilizing your body while you sleep, minimizing any motion transfer, and keeping the mattress in place on the bed base. This is all wrapped in Nectar’s quilted Cool Cover that regulates temperature and Nectar’s shift-resistant lower covering, which provides stability by securing the mattress to the bed frame. The Nectar Memory Foam mattress may be a good choice if you are looking for a mattress that is medium-firm and allows your body to be wrapped in memory foam as you sleep.
There is a Premier version of the Nectar Memory Foam mattress that looks similar to the Puffy and Puffylux versions. The Nectar Premier memory foam mattress has all the bells and whistles of the standard Nectar Memory Foam mattress. However, it comes with a thicker and more advanced Nectar Smart Layer, now with enhanced ActiveCoolHD. The total height of the mattress is now 13 inches. This foam is specially designed to help regulate your body temperature and keep the mattress cool while you sleep.
The Nectar Premier Copper mattress is the last and most expensive mattress available from Nectar. This mattress combines everything good about the previous two Nectar mattresses and adds more thickness to each layer. At 14-inches, you’ll be sure not to be feeling anything but the plushy and supportive mattress. To add to this, the maximum temperature regulating quilted cover is upgraded to include copper-infused threads that help dissipate heat and other heat conductive fibers that keep the mattress cool to the touch.
Price Point of Mattresses
If we’re talking about price points, then Nectar comes in reasonably affordable $499 for their Twin sized original memory foam mattress. These mattresses are available in a full size or larger at an additional $899.
The premium versions are more expensive and will take more out of your pocket. The queen-sized Nectar Premier will set you back $1299, while you can get the more luxurious Nectar Premier Copper for $1699. These mattresses are still thicker than those offered by Puffy. The Puffy Lux still comes in more expensive at its largest sizes compared to the largest of these Nectar mattresses.
Nectar offers $399 worth of freebies with every purchase. These freebies may change depending on the season but typically include mattress covers, protectors, and pillows. Every purchase comes with a lifetime guarantee, a full year trial, and free shipping to make it even easier.
Final Winner
Nectar appears to be a better choice than Puffy in terms of cost and the sheer number of options that are available to customers. Nectar offers additional benefits that make a Nectar mattress more valuable than Puffy.
Nectar’s only problem would be its inability to sell products to residents outside the US. While Puffy exclusively ships to Canada, Nectar exclusively ships to the US. Your choice will eventually be dictated by where you are located in the world.

Puffy Mattresses vs. Casper Mattresses
We had to include Casper. Casper was not included in a comparison of the best soft drinks. Casper’s high price is a common comparison with newer brands but it remains a top choice for many shoppers looking for a mattress.
Puffy makes Casper’s higher prices a reason to choose the Puffy mattress. Can Casper be beaten by this Canadian brand?
Types of Mattresses Available
Unlike Puffy’s limited options, Casper impresses with four different mattresses to choose from, 3 of them having two variants each. This means that Casper has roughly seven mattresses you can choose from depending on your sleep style and preferences.
Casper’s first mattress, a traditional foam mattress, uses two layers of foam to construct its entire construction. Known as the Element mattress, this is Casper’s entry-level mattress for those looking for something simple with no frills. Casper’s Airscape perforated foam is used as the top layer on their mattresses. This allows heat to escape better while you sleep. Below this is their high-density foam base that prevents sagging and supports your whole body while you rest.
The Casper Original is next on the Casper catalog. The Casper original uses three different layers of foam now, the first being the classic Airscape foam, which is then supported by their Zoned Support Memory Foam and the standard base support foam. The Zoned Support foam is unique in that it is an area-specific memory foam. This means that certain parts are firmer depending on what component requires more support.
What’s interesting is that you can get the Casper Original as a hybrid mattress. Hybrid mattresses have become more popular because they combine new memory foam technology and the reliable design of inner coils that are better than older mattresses. These Casper coils add lift to your bed and structural support to help you stay in bed when you need to and get out of it when you’re done.
The following two mattress types are much more premium than what we’ve seen previously. The Casper Nova Hybrid Snow Mattress is specifically designed for heat regulation. The mattress’s multilayer foam and coil technology is enhanced with cooling gels and thermal bands.
Lastly, the Wave Hybrid is Casper’s premium mattress with supportive sleep in mind. You can get this with the same cooling technology found in the Nova Hybrid Snow mattresses. However, the Wave’s selling point is its additional three layers of perforated foam, giving you the support you need without being overly stiff. Casper’s premium throughout bed design will provide you with the best spinal support and comfort.
Price Point of Mattresses
Casper’s biggest problem is its price. It’s no secret that Casper tends to edge towards the premium side when pricing their mattresses, but the price you’ll need to pay for some of their more premium mattresses is ridiculous at times. What Mattress Is Comparable To Nectar
Casper’s entry-level Element mattress is priced at $545 for a twin. At queen size and larger, you can expect to spend at least $800 to be able to get your hands on a Casper Element.
Things start to get expensive when you consider the Original, Nova, and Wave variants, as their initial mattresses all cross $1,000 easily when considering a queen-size mattress. The Nova and Wave variants double this number, while the Wave mattress is about $4,500.
Final Winner
It’s easy to say Puffy wins out here for its simplicity and its price point. It won’t make sense for people on a budget to spend close to double for a Casper mattress when they can get a mattress that is just as good (or better at times) for a much more manageable price.

Puffy Mattresses vs. Nolah Mattresses
Nolah, another American-owned mattress company, specializes in hybrid and foam mattresses. Nolah does not use outdated materials like the old memory foam and pure foam latex but rather their patented AirFoam mattress layers for all their mattresses. What Mattress Is Comparable To Nectar
Nolah’s foam is stated to be 100% temperature neutral and provides better pressure relief for your joints. Let’s see how this compares to the mattresses Puffy has on offer.
There are many types of mattresses available
Nolah offers three different mattresses: the Noah Original 10-inch, Nolah Signature 12-inch and the Nolah Evolution 15-inch. The Signature and the Original share many similarities in construction as they are both fully foam mattresses. The Nolah Evolution is a hybrid design that uses Nolah’s inner-coil configuration.
The Original and Signature mattresses share the same first three layers of foam, the first being the layer of Nolah’s AirFoam to provide pressure relief and temperature regulation. The following two layers, which are the Deep Resiliiance Foam and the High-Density Base Foam, provide additional support to these functions. The Signature mattress differs by adding extra thickness to its foam layers and having an extra firm AirFoam layer beneath the base foam so you can easily switch how firm or how plush you want your mattress to be. What Mattress Is Comparable To Nectar
Nolah’s Evolution mattress is Nolah’s best-selling model. This is due to the HDMax Eco Support Coils Nolah created to provide better pressure relief, additional cooling, and structural support around the edges.
Pricing Point for Mattresses
Nolah is a direct-to-consumer mattress that was launched in the last few years. However, their prices are comparable to what higher-end mattress dealers charge for their mattresses. Their starting Queen size Original mattress comes in at $899 and doubles to $1600 if you opt for the Nolah Evolution. Although it’s not as expensive as Purple or Casper, it’s still not a bargain.
Final Winner
Despite being higher in the price range, Nolah still comes out cheaper in entry compared to Puffy. Nolah has more options than Puffy, which makes it a better mattress dealer. However, you will need to be in the United States to get their wide selection of mattresses.

Puffy Mattress vs. DreamCloud Mattress
Our final contender for the list, DreamCloud’s mattresses are built with luxury in mind, without reaching inordinate prices. DreamCloud is a hybrid mattress brand that specializes in providing quality mattresses at affordable prices. What Mattress Is Comparable To Nectar
Let’s take a look at what DreamCloud has to share.
There are many types of mattresses available
DreamCloud has three mattresses that they sell on their website, the DreamCloud original, their higher-end DreamCloud Premier, and the DreamCloud Premier Rest. The bed’s hybrid coil-and-foam construction is similar. However, the higher-end models have more layers and thickness.
The DreamCloud original, and by extension the rest of the DreamCloud series of mattresses, start with five essential layers to how their mattresses are made up. The first layer is their gel memory foam made to contour to your body while you rest. This is then supported by their Sink-In-Just-Right layer, the Targeted Support Coil layer, and the essential base foam layer, which all help the top layer provide optimum comfort without sacrificing support. This is all enveloped with their top layer of cashmere-quilted top mattress layer to give a nice soft and cooling touch when you lay on the mattress. What Mattress Is Comparable To Nectar
The DreamCloud Premier Rest and DreamCloud Premier Rest are identical mattresses. They have additional layers of foam and higher support coils. The Premier Rest gives the Premier Rest a higher height. This is the main difference between the two mattresses. Every Premier version includes pressure-relieving foam layers as well as enhanced support layers. All designed to provide maximum comfort.
Price Point of Mattresses
DreamCloud has three mattress options, each with varying quality. However, their entry-level pricing is $699 for the Twin size original mattress. Although some DreamCloud models can be quite expensive, they don’t exceed $2,000 in price. This says a lot for a mattress brand that makes a more complicated hybrid mattress approach without raising prices too much. What Mattress Is Comparable To Nectar
Each purchase also comes with $399 worth of goods like additional pillows, mattress protectors, and bedsheets. You can rest assured that your DreamCloud purchase comes with a lifetime warranty as well as a full year of no-strings-attached sleeping trial.
Final Winner
DreamCloud’s mattresses are more flexible and supportive than traditional memory foam mattresses Puffy, while still being affordable. We recommend that you try one if you are in DreamCloud’s serviceable regions.
In Summary What Mattress Is Comparable To Nectar
Puffy seems to be right about the claim that it is more affordable than Casper in terms of price. Compared to what other brands are currently doing now, Puffy appears to be lagging in terms of price, functionality, and reach.
Puffy will be a top choice for Canadian residents. Puffy won’t deliver to the US if you are a US citizen. We recommend that you choose another brand that serves the US directly. DreamCloud’s innovative hybrid technologies are what we think would be the best among all brands. We recommend visiting their website if you’re looking for a mattress.
