Firmness and Feel
When searching for the right mattress, the firmness and feel are just some of its most important factors. How firm is the Saatva Classic on your body? Does it have enough strength to hold you up if you sleep in different positions? Or is it too stiff to your liking? We tested the mattress to test the possibilities!

How firm Is the Saatva Classic?
Saatva Classic Saatva Classic has three varying degrees of firmness: Plush Soft, Luxury Firm and Firm. What is the best choice for you will depend on your personal experience and the conditions. However, if you’d like to get firsthand information about the issue, we’ve put each of the three Saatva Classic versions to the test to determine how they perform on our firmness scale, ranging from 1 to 10.
We began our experiment by sleeping on the Plush Soft mattress, which we’ve put at as 3/10. One thing we’ve noticed right off the start is that it was extremely comfortable sleeping sideways facing the pillow top. It was as if we were getting the body hug by this model of Saatva Classic. Saatva Classic thanks to its soft foundation when compared to other models. However, this more flexible feeling might not work for people who tend to sleep flat – either on the stomach or the back. Try Saatva
Then, we’ll have the Firm version which is a striking contrast to the Plus Soft in terms of materials and rigidity. It was hard to feel our bodies sink into the mattress. This version surely does live up to its name! It is particularly beneficial for people who sleep on their backs or stomach, as it offers much more visible support. Some people may have issues with sleeping on their sides. But despite this we rate this product an 8 out of 10.
When we looked at the Luxury Firm version One of the first things we observed was how soft it was on the top of the pillow. The coils which hold the mattress together are more firm, making this version of Saatva mixed in terms of construction. In this case, as we lay down flat on our backs We not only receive the correct amount of sinking and support, but also the sinking that we required. The same could be said with sleeping on the stomach, but for side sleeping? Based on different individual experiences of the person, this could be hit-or-miss. That being said we rate this Luxury Firm mattress an 6.5 /10 on the scale of firmness.
Testing using a variety of body weights
In addition to the test for firmness, we’ve also experimented with the way different body weights react sleeping on three different versions of the Saatva Classic. Let’s start first with The Plush Soft mattress. It is made of the less durable coil foundation and an even softer pillow top, it’s no wonder why it’s a favorite among light-weights. Average-weighing folks between 130 to 200 pounds might appreciate the body-hugging and sinking feeling from the Plush Soft, but heavyweights might find them to be an issue. Try Saatva
The firm mattress could be too rigid for those with a weight of less than 175lbs, but in the case of those way more than that, this mattress is likely to be the best option. With a more solid foundation all over the mattress, the Firm model offers much more solid support when it comes to sleeping on your belly or the back especially among heavyweights. People who weigh less could find lying on the bed a bit uncomfortable, with no soft foam surface to remedy this.

For the Luxury Firm mattress, most of its features are enough to accommodate a variety in bodyweights. If you’re someone who weighs 130lbs or 250 pounds, you will feel a sense of peace and ease while sleeping on the back on this type of mattress. Stomach sleepers may enjoy too, but it may require extra support for people who are heavier. For side sleepers, it’s generally good for all body weights, however it’s somewhat of a gamble.
Performance
What is the way that do the Saatva Classic fare in terms of performance? From motion transfer to durability and even to how it reacts during intimacy, we delved further deep to test its capabilities. These these are our findings!
Motion Isolation and Transfer
The Saatva was lackluster in its motion isolation, in comparison against other hybrid mattresses. The foam that is built into is less than one-half inch, yet the mattress still manages to absorb a significant degree of motion thanks to its ultra-modern fiber fill. Two of the more firm options might not be able to isolate the motion. Its Plush Soft variant, however, fares a little better in comparison.
If you’re in a romantic relationship and you’re looking at a mattress in which one of you moves , and you don’t have to notice for one bit then you should consider the Saatva Classic may not be the ideal. As we tried it to see if it could transfer motion and we noticed that one of our team slowly lost focus as the other member started doing movements, ranging from minimal to moderate , and then high-intensity. Innerspring mattresses have been notorious for their poor absorption of motion, and the Saatva is composed of innerspring parts. It’s also an unsuitable mattress, especially when you’re a light sleeper who’s frequently disturbed.
Pressure Relief
Pressure relief refers to the mattress’s capacity to ease out the tension experienced by the body’s tension points. We determined the Saatva’s pressure relief levels by drawing the map of pressure on its surface. When we have the results, it’s revealed that the mattress, in three different firmnesses, provides stellar pressure relief at the back. For hip and shoulder points, this can vary depending on a variety of variables, such as firmness level the individual’s situation, as well as weight. Try Saatva

Temperature Control
The Saatva Classic mattress may be plenty of things, but we can’t say that it’s one of the top ones with stunning cooling abilities. It has two layers of the spring coil, one of which is pockets. This structural frame allows enough air to flow throughout the mattress, ultimately cooling down individuals who usually rest hot. The Saatva Classic is not only able to cool down temperatures, but the pillow top’s cover is made of organic cotton, making Saatva Classic Saatva Classic more breathable than other hybrid mattresses made of memory foam. It is a great cooling mattress for anyone living in a tropical climate, or for couples who, when they are sleeping together, will are able to heat the bed faster than a single person.
Edge Support
Edge support is a measure of the strength of those edges support. In the case of the Saatva Classic, the edges are incredibly strong. Upon testing, we ruled that they were noticeably robust enough to permit people to lie on their edges without worrying much about sagging, sinkage or falling off the mattress. This is caused by the foam encasement which is wrapped around the coil layers inside the mattress. The sturdiness may vary depending on the firmness level and the firmness of Saatva. Couples for instance, will not feel too much sagging when they choose between the Firm or Luxury Firm choices, but might experience a bit of discomfort along the edges with the Plush Soft. Additionally heavier people might feel more sinkage than the lightweight ones.
Sex
In the event that you or your companion have a sexually active relationship It is essential to choose an appropriate mattress that will respond with ease when being intimate with your partner. This is where the Saatva Classic comes in, with a solid combination of both flexibility and responsiveness, which makes it optimized for a wide range of sexual actions. The pillow top conforms to bodies when they are in to the bed’s surface while the innerspring foundation causes the bed to be bouncy enough to permit movement, but not too loud to create the irritating sounds of squeaking. The strong edge support allows couples to take advantage of the whole space of Saatva. Although this Plush Soft comfort level may offer a decent amount of sexual traction but it did not feel as comfortable compared to its more firm counterparts.
Off-gassing
The Saatva Classic is made out of synthetic foam, but the thing that sets it apart from the rest is that it doesn’t take up much in the bed. It doesn’t smell as bad upon the purchase and delivery. As we were receiving the Saatva mattresses for testing, we noticed how, instead of the standard cardboard box delivery people from the delivery company arrived to set the mattress for us. We also examined the way it released less of the typical “new mattress” smell in comparison to similar mattresses, which went away quite quickly. It could be due to how the mattress was made. Try Saatva
Easy of Movement
It is the Saatva has been proven to be more comfortable in movement than other hybrid mattresses, thanks to the unique combination of innersprings and polyfoam that is used as its structural foundation. The mattress is bonded to the body of the person as they lay on the surface, but returns to its original form quickly as soon as they leave it. To contrast, mattresses that have a memory foam top are shaped to fit the body as typical, but the sensation of being ‘trapped in a comfortable environment is stronger which makes it difficult for the person get out.

Noise
Innerspring beds have made some bad rap over the years for their irritating sounds that get worse with each use. Its Saatva Classic, on the other hand, does not fit into this category. As we mentioned before, the mattress’s core is the encasement of foam wrapped around coil systems. Not only does it provide solid support along the edges, but it also blocks out the sounds that coils normally make. When we tried out changing positions and moving around the bed, we noticed how there was less noise, squeak and buzz were produced. However, since the Saatva mattress rests on coils you shouldn’t expect the no-noise capability to last forever.
Durability
We’ve managed to try out all the performance tests with the Saatva Classic mattress, the most important thing to think about is the following questions: “How durable is the Saatva? How long will it be expected to last?” Considering the high-grade quality of the materials and the structure, and how well it is able to perform when it comes to relief, comfort, and movement as well, the Saatva will be durable enough to last up to around 7 to 10 years.
Materials
The Saatva Classic is composed of at least four layers each of which has unique abilities. But when taken together, they make a strong, durable and bouncy solid hybrid mattress which can be used for any purpose. Let’s look at all the layers and materials that make up the Saatva mattress.
Layer 1 Layer 1: A soft and breathable Surface
The first layer consists of three inches of thick Euro pillow top that serves for the mattress’s bed surface. It’s made up of a mix of fiberfill, polyfoam and Dacron to create an incredibly comfortable and cushioned area for you to lay down on. In both Plush Soft and Luxury Firm models it’s there is a 1.25-inch thick layer of polyfoam soft has been used in the Soft option, while the Firm option uses 1.5″ worth of polyfoam with a firm texture.
It is then quilted with a specially-made Lumbar Zone quilting design that is designed to provide much-needed pressure relief for the hips and back. Organic cotton fabric is used to protect the pillow’s surface. It is not only breathable and soft, but it also has plenty of antibacterial qualities.
Layer 2: A Combination Foam for Lumbar Support with Enhanced
Across all three firmness levels, an inch-thick support foam is placed under the first layer, creating a superior lumbar support system. This special foam is composed of majority of the mattress is composed of polyfoam, while the remainder is made out of memory foam. It is placed strategically along the middle of the mattress, allowing that the spine to more align, without creating any discomfort that might arise. Try Saatva

Layer 3: The Foam-encased Support Layer
The third layer of the Saatva is a support layer and additionally, another of the coils that comprise the mattress. The 4-inch-thick, individually wrapped micro coils made of foam is flexible enough to adhere to various body shapes and ever-changing movements. It also allows for breezy air circulation, keeping the sleeping person cool and preventing them from becoming too hot.
4. The Sturdy Foundation Core
The underlying structure of all three layers is a solid foundation made of hourglass steel coils beneath the three layers. Customers get to choose between two heights that are 4 inches for mattresses measuring 11.5″ or 7-inch layers for 14.5″ mattresses. The core coils assist the coils with pockets of foam to create an improved airflow system through the Saatva and the high-quality components must be strong enough to support heavier individuals and objects.
