Firmness and Feel
When it comes to searching for the right mattress, firmness and feel are among the most important elements. How firm is the Saatva Classic on your body? Do you think it is sturdy enough to support you if you lie in various positions? Is it too firm to your liking? We tried it out for ourselves to test the possibilities!

How firm can Saatva Classic? Saatva Classic?
The Saatva Classic has three varying firmnesses: Plush Soft, Luxury Firm, and Firm. The answer to this question depends on the individual’s experience and personal specific circumstances. If you’re looking to know about it firsthand, we’ve put each one of three Saatva Classic versions to the test to see how it fares on our scale of firmness ranging from 1 to 10.
We started our test using the Plush Soft mattress, which we’ve put at 3 out of 10. One thing we’ve noticed right from the start is that it felt so comfortable while sleeping sideways facing the pillow at the top. We felt like we were getting body-hugged by this version that’s Saatva Classic. Saatva Classic thanks to its more supple foundation than other models. However, that more malleable feel may not translate well for those who lie flat, either on their stomachs or their back. Sheets For Saatva Mattress
Then, we’ll have the Firm variant which is a striking opposite to Plus Soft in terms of material and stiffness. We could barely feel our bodies sink into the mattress. This model certainly does live up to its name! This is particularly great for those who sleep flat on their stomachs or backs because it provides more apparent support. Some people may have issues regarding sleeping on the side. Yet, despite this we rate this item a solid 8/10.
When we looked at this Luxury Firm version, one of the first few things we noticed was how soft it was on the top of the pillow. The coils which keep the mattress in place are more firm, making this particular version of Saatva different in terms of construction. When we lay down flat on our backs and slept, we not only have the proper amount of sinking, but also the support that we needed. It’s the same for sleeping on the stomach, but for side sleeping? Depending on the different personal experiences, it could be unpredictable. On that note we rate our Luxury Firm mattress a 6.5 /10 on the firmness scale.
Testing using a variety of body weights
Apart from the firmness test, we’ve also experimented with the way different body weights respond when sleeping on three different versions that comprise the Saatva Classic. The first is The Plush Soft mattress. It is made of an unsteady coil foundation , and a softer pillow top It’s not surprising that it’s been popular with light weights. Average-weighing folks between 130 to 200 lbs may like the body hugging and sinking feel that comes with the Plush Soft, but heavyweights may find these to be an issue. Sheets For Saatva Mattress
The Firm mattress may be too rigid for those who weigh less than 175 pounds, however in the case of those way more than that, this mattress is probably the more suitable choice. With a stronger foundation across, the Firm variant offers the most stable support when sleeping on your stomach or back, especially among heavyweights. Those who weigh much less may find lying on their bed a bit uncomfortable, with not enough soft foam surface to remedy this.

For this Luxury Firm mattress the majority of its attributes are sufficient to cater to a broad range of weight a person can carry. If you’re one who weighs 130 pounds or 250 pounds, you’ll experience a sense relief and relaxation sleeping flat on the back with this kind of mattress. Stomach sleepers may enjoy too, but it might require additional support for those who weigh more. For side sleepers it’s usually suitable for all body weights, although it can be somewhat unpredictable.
Performance
How does this Saatva Classic fare in terms of performance? From motion transfer to durability and even how it performs in intimacy, we dove further into the depths to test its performance levels. Here are the results!
Motion Isolation and Transfer
The Saatva is not the best in motion isolation as compared with other hybrid mattress. The foam layer built within is less than one-half inch, yet the mattress still manages to absorb an impressive amount of motion due to its high-tech fiber fill. The two firmer options may not do well in isolating the motion. However, the Plush Soft variant, however is a bit better when compared to.
If you’re in a romantic relationship, and you’re looking towards a mattress that one of you moves , and the other doesn’t notice for one bit then the Saatva Classic may not be the most suitable. When we tested it out for motion transfers, we saw how one of our team members slowly lost focus as the other person started doing movements, ranging from minimal to moderate and eventually high-intensity. Mattresses made of innersprings have been known for having poor motion absorption, and the Saatva happens to be composed of innerspring components. It could be a poor choice for a mattress particularly when you’re a light sleeper who is easily disturbed.
Pressure Relief
Pressure relief refers to the mattress’s capacity to ease out the tension felt at the body’s pressure points. We determined the Saatva’s pressure relief levels by drawing an image of pressure on the surface. Upon receiving the results, it’s shown that the mattress, in three different levels of firmness provides stellar pressure relief at the back. For shoulder and hip points it can be different based on a range of factors like the firmness level as well as personal circumstances and the weight. Sheets For Saatva Mattress

Temperature Control
Its Saatva Classic mattress may be numerous things, but we can’t deny that this is one of the most comfortable that has incredible cooling capabilities. The mattress has two layers of the spring coil. One of these is pockets. The structural frame permits air to circulate through the mattress, ultimately cooling those who normally sleep hot. Not only is it in a position to reduce temperatures, but the pillow top’s cover is made of organic cotton, which makes it Saatva Classic more breathable than other hybrid mattresses made of memory foam. It is a great cooling mattress for those who live in a tropical climate, or for couples who, if they are sleeping together, will are able to heat the bed faster than a single person.
Edge Support
Edge support is the measure of the strength of those edges can support. In the case of the Saatva Classic, the edges remain in great shape. In our tests, we found that they’re sturdy enough to allow individuals to lie on their edges without having to worry about sinkage, sagging and falling off of the bed. This is because of the foam encasement which is wrapped around the coil layers within the mattress. The sturdiness may vary depending on the firmness levels and the firmness of Saatva. Couples, for example, may not feel too much sinking on the Firm or Luxe Firm choices, but might feel a certain degree of discomfort along the edges with those who choose the Plush Soft. Also, those who are heavier will experience more sinkage than lighter ones.
Sex
When you are with your spouse and are sexually active, it’s crucial to find the right mattress that responds well when it comes to sharing intimate moments. That’s where Saatva Classic comes in, with a solid combination of both flexibility and responsiveness, which makes it suitable for a range of sexual actions. The top of the pillow conforms to the body when in proximity to its surface while the innerspring base causes the bed to be buoyant enough to permit movement but not loud enough to create the irritating squeaking sound. The solid edge support permits the couples to take full advantage of the whole space of Saatva. While this Plush Soft comfort level may provide average sexual traction however, it was a bit sluggish when compared to its more rigid counterparts.
Off-gassing
The Saatva Classic is made out of synthetic foam. However, what sets it apart from other mattresses is the fact that it doesn’t occupy a large portion of the mattress. This means that it doesn’t smell as bad after the purchase and delivery. When we received the Saatva mattresses to test We noticed that, instead of the typical boxes of cardboard, delivery personnel arrived to set the mattress for us. We also inspected whether it emits less of the typical “new mattress” smell than other similar ones that went away quickly. This could be due to how it was built. Sheets For Saatva Mattress
Mobility
The Saatva has been found to be more comfortable in movement than other hybrid mattresses, due to the unique combination of innerspring and polyfoam used as its structural foundation. The bed is fixed with the shape of the user as they lay on the ground and then recovers its original shape when they get off of it. To compare, mattresses with an upper layer of memory foam will conform to the body per typical, but the sensation of being ‘trapped in comfort’ is more prominent which makes it difficult for the person leave.

Noise
Innerspring beds have earned themselves some bad rap over the years due to their annoying sounds that get worse with each use. Saatva Classic, however Saatva Classic, on the other hand, does not fall under this stereotype. As we’ve mentioned earlier, the mattress’s structure is a foam encasement that’s been wrapped around coil systems. This not only offers solid support at the edges, it also muffles out the noise coils usually make. We tried changing positions and moving around on the mattress, we noticed that there was less noise, squeak and buzz generated. However, as that the Saatva mattress rests on coils you shouldn’t expect the no-noise features to last long.
Durability
We’ve managed to conduct all tests of performance with the Saatva Classic mattress, the most important thing to ask are some of the questions below: “How durable is the Saatva? How long will it be able for to stand the test of time?” Considering the high-grade quality of the materials and structure and the way it performs when it comes to relief, comfort, and motion as well, the Saatva will be durable enough to last about 7-10 years.
Materials
Saatva Classic Saatva Classic is composed of at minimum four layers, each having distinctive capabilities. When they are put together, they form a strong, durable, bouncy, and overall reliable hybrid mattress that can be used for any purpose. Let’s take a close review of the various layers and materials that comprise the Saatva mattress.

Layer 2: A Combination of Foam for Lumbar Support with Enhanced
For all three firmness levels, an inch-thick support foam is put under the initial layer to create a much better support for the lumbar region. The foam is made up of: more than half of the layer is made of polyfoam. The remainder is made out of memory foam. It also allows for breezy air circulation, which keeps the sleeping person cool and preventing them from getting too hot.
Layer 4: Sturdy Foundation Core
Each layer is held by a solid foundation made of steel hourglass coils that are underneath the three layers. Customers can choose between two sizes of a 4-inch layer to fit mattresses that measure 11.5″ or a 7-inch layer for 14.5″ mattresses.
