How Firm is the Saatva Classic?
The Saatva Classic has three varying firmnesses: Plush Soft, Luxury Firm, and Firm. What is the best choice for you will depend on your personal experience and the circumstances. But if you want to know about it firsthand, we’ve put each of the three Saatva Classic versions to the test to determine how they perform on our firmness scale, ranging from 1 to 10.
We began our experiment using our Plush Soft mattress, which we’ve ranked 3 out of 10. The one thing that we’ve observed right off the start is that it feels so comfy lying on the side with the pillow at its the top. It was as if we were closer to getting the body hug by this model that’s the Saatva Classic thanks to its soft foundation when compared to other ones. However, that more malleable feel may not translate well for people who tend to lie flat, either on their stomachs or their back. Saatva Vs The Eco Terralatex Mattress
Next , we’ve got the Firm version which is a striking opposite to Plus Soft in terms of the materials used and the rigidity. It was hard to feel our bodies sinking into the mattress – the model certainly lives up to its name! This is especially great for sleepers who lie flat on their stomachs or backs because it provides more obvious support. Certain people might have problems when it comes to sleeping on their sides. Yet, despite this we rate this item an 8 out of 10.
When we looked at the Premium Firm version, one of the first few things we observed was how soft it felt on the top of the pillow. The coils which hold the mattress together are firmer, making this version of Saatva mixed in terms of design. In this case, as we lay down flat on our backs We not only receive the correct amount of sinking and support, but also the sinking that we required. It’s the same for sleeping on the stomach, but what about side sleeping? Based on different experience of each person’s, the situation may be a bit of a hit or miss. That being said, we give the Luxury Firm mattress an 6.5 /10 on the scale of firmness.
Testing with Varying Body Weights
In addition to the test for firmness, we’ve also experimented with how different body weights react when sleeping on three different versions of the Saatva Classic. The first is our Plush Soft mattress. Made from a less sturdy coil foundation and an even softer pillow top, it’s no wonder why it’s been favored among lightweights. People who weigh 130 to 200 pounds might appreciate the body-hugging and sinking feeling of the Plush Soft, but heavyweights might find them to be an issue. Saatva Vs The Eco Terralatex Mattress
The firm mattress might be too rigid for those that weigh under 175lbs, but when you weigh way more than that, this mattress is most likely the better option. With a stronger foundation across, the Firm variant offers much more solid support when it comes to sleeping on the belly or the back especially among heavyweights. For those who weigh less, they could find lying on the bed a bit uncomfortable, with no soft foam surface to remedy this.

For this Luxury Firm mattress, most of its features are enough to cover a wide range of weight a person can carry. If you’re someone who weighs 130lbs (or 250lbs), you will feel a sense of ease and comfort while lying flat on the back on this type of mattress. Stomach sleepers can benefit from this as well, although it might require additional support for heavier folks. In terms of side sleeping it’s usually suitable for most body weights, however it’s a bit of a hit-or-miss.
Performance
How does do the Saatva Classic fare in terms of performance? From motion transfers to endurance and even to how it behaves during intimate moments, we dove further deep to test its performance levels. These is the result!
Motion Isolation and Transfer
The Saatva did not stand out in motion isolation in comparison with other hybrid mattress. The foam layer built within is less than half an inch, but the mattress still manages to absorb a significant degree of movement thanks to its ultra-modern fiber fill. The two more firm choices may not do well in isolating the motion. Its Plush Soft variant, however performs a bit better in comparison.
If you’re in a relationship, and you’re looking at a mattress in which one of you is moving and you don’t have to be able to tell then you should consider the Saatva Classic may not be the ideal. We tested it to see if it could transfer motion and we noticed that one of our team slowly got distracted as soon as the other member began moving – from minor to moderate and eventually high-intensity. Innerspring mattresses have been notorious for their poor absorption of motion, and the Saatva is composed of innerspring components. It could be a bad mattress choice particularly when you’re a light sleeper who’s often disturbed.
Pressure Relief
Pressure relief refers to the mattress’s ability to reduce the pressure felt at the body’s pressure points. We evaluated the Saatva’s pressure relief levels by placing an image of pressure on the surface. Upon receiving the results, it’s revealed that the mattress, in three different firmnesses, gives excellent pressure relief in the back. In terms of hip and shoulder areas the relief can differ based on several factors including the level of firmness, personal circumstance, and weight. Saatva Vs The Eco Terralatex Mattress

Temperature Control
Its Saatva Classic mattress may be many things, but we couldn’t deny that this is one of the top ones with stunning cooling abilities. The mattress has two layers of spring coil, one of which is pocketed. The structure allows air to circulate through the mattress, ultimately cooling people who typically rest hot. Not only is it in a position to reduce temperatures and keep them cool, but the top of the pillow’s cover is made of organic cotton, making the Saatva Classic more breathable than other hybrid beds made with memory foam. It is a great cooling mattress for those who live in a tropical climate, or for couples who, if they sleep together, heat the bed more quickly than a single person.
Edge Support
Edge support refers to the strength of those edges can hold up. For the Saatva Classic, the edges are incredibly strong. After testing, we concluded that they were noticeably solid enough to allow people to sleep near the edges without worrying much about sagging, sinkage and falling off of the bed. This is due to the foam encasement which is placed around the coils inside the mattress. The sturdiness may vary depending on the firmness levels that are present in the Saatva. Couples, for example, may not feel too much sagging on those with the Firm or Luxury Firm options but may be able to feel a little discomfort at the edges of those who choose the Plush Soft. Additionally, those who are heavier may feel more sinkage than the light ones.
Sex
If you and your partner are sexually active It is essential to choose an appropriate mattress that will respond with ease when having intimate moments. This is where the Saatva Classic comes in, with a strong combination of both the ability to respond and friction, making it designed for a variety of sexual activities. The top of the pillow conforms to bodies when they are in proximity to its surface, while the innerspring foundation causes the bed to be bouncy enough to allow for movements but not loud enough for the annoying sounds of squeaking. The strong edge support allows couples to take full enjoyment of the entire space of Saatva. While the Plush Soft comfort level may offer a decent amount of traction for sex, it felt quite lacking when compared to its more rigid counterparts.
Off-gassing
Saatva Classic Saatva Classic is made out of synthetic foam. However, what makes it stand out from other mattresses is the fact that it doesn’t take up much in the bed. This means that it doesn’t smell as unpleasant upon the purchase and delivery. When we received the Saatva mattresses to test we noticed that instead of the standard cardboard box delivery the delivery staff arrived to set the mattress for us. We also checked the way it released less of the typical “fresh mattress smell” than other similar ones and it went away quickly. It could be due to how it was constructed. Ease of Movement
Saatva Saatva has been proven to be more comfortable in movement than other hybrid mattresses due to the unique combination of innersprings and polyfoam that is employed as the foundation for its structure. The bed is fixed with the shape of the user as they lay on the surface however it recovers its original shape when they get off of the bed. To compare, mattresses with an upper layer of memory foam will are shaped to fit the body as typical, but the sensation of being ‘trapped in comfort is much more apparent and makes it difficult for the person to remove themselves.

Noise
The innerspring beds have received some bad rap over the years for their irritating noises, which gradually get worse with each use. Its Saatva Classic, on the contrary, doesn’t fit into this category. As we’ve mentioned earlier, the mattress’s inner structure contains a foam encasement that’s been wrapped around the coil systems. This not only offers solid support at the edges, but it also blocks out the sounds that coils normally create. As we experimented with shifting positions and moving around the bed, we were amazed by how less noise and squeaking were produced. However, as it is the Saatva mattress is supported by coils, you shouldn’t expect the no-noise features to last long.
Durability
After we’ve had the chance to try out all the test of the performance on the Saatva Classic mattress, the most important thing to think about is some of the questions below: “How durable is the Saatva? How long will it be able for to stand the test of time?” Considering the high-grade quality of the materials and structure and the way it performs in regards to relief, comfort, and movement and comfort, the Saatva should be durable enough to last up to about 7-10 years.
Materials
The Saatva Classic is composed of at minimum four layers each of which has unique abilities. When they are combined, they create solid, durable, bouncy, and overall solid hybrid mattress that is suitable for any use. Let’s take a close look at the different layers and materials that compose the Saatva mattress.

This top quilt is made using an exclusive Lumbar Zone Quilting design to provide much-needed pressure relief on the back and hips. Organic cotton is used to protect the pillow’s surface. It is not only breathable and soft, but it also has plenty of antibacterial qualities.
Layer 2: A Combination Foam for Lumbar Support with Enhanced
For all three firmness levels, an inch-thick support foam is placed beneath the first layer to provide a more enhanced support for the lumbar region. It also allows for breezy air circulation, keeping the sleeping person cool and preventing them from getting too hot.
4. The Sturdy Foundation Core
Holding all three layers is a foundation of durable hourglass steel coils beneath them. Customers can choose between two heights that are 4 inches for mattresses measuring 11.5″ or 7-inch for 14.5″ mattresses.
