How firm Is the Saatva Classic?
The Saatva Classic has three varying firmnesses: Plush Soft, Luxury Firm, and Firm. The answer to this question depends on personal experience and specific circumstances. However, if you’d like to know about it firsthand we’ve put each 3 Saatva Classic versions to the test to see how it performs on our firmness scale, ranging from 1 to 10.
We started the experiment off by sleeping on The Plush Soft mattress, which we’ve rated as 3/10. The one thing that we’ve observed straight off the bat is how it feels so comfy sleeping on its side, with the pillow on at the top. We felt as if we were more likely to be in the body of the Saatva Classic thanks to its soft foundation when compared to other foundations. However, this more flexible feel may not translate well for those who rest flat, whether on the stomach or the back. Saatva Mattress Not Picked Up
Next , we’ve got the Firm version which is a striking difference to Plus Soft in terms of materials and rigidity. We barely felt our bodies sinking into the mattress – the version surely does live up to its name! This is especially great for sleepers who lie flat on their backs or stomach because it provides more apparent support. Some people may have issues when it comes to sleeping on the side. Yet, despite this we rate this product an excellent 8/10.
When we looked at the Luxury Firm version one of the initial few things we observed was how soft it felt on the pillow top. The coils, meanwhile, that hold the mattress together are more firm, which makes this version of Saatva different in terms of construction. When we lay on our backs, not only did we have the proper amount of sinking and support, but also the sinking that we needed. The same could be said for sleeping on the stomach, but for side sleeping? Based on different personal experiences, it can be unpredictable. That being said we rate this Luxury Firm mattress an 6.5 out of 10 on the firmness scale.
Testing using a variety of body weights
Apart from the firmness test, we’ve also experimented with the way different body weights respond when sleeping on three versions that comprise the Saatva Classic. Let’s start first with the Plush Soft mattress. Made out of a less sturdy coil foundation and an even soft pillow top is no wonder that it’s been popular with light weights. Average-weighing folks between 130 to 200 pounds may appreciate the body hugging and sinking sensation of this Plush Soft, but heavyweights may find these to be an issue. Saatva Mattress Not Picked Up
The firm mattress could be too stiff for those who weigh less than 175 pounds, however for those who weigh above that, this model is likely to be the best alternative. With a sturdier foundation throughout the firm mattress, it provides much more solid support when sleeping on your side or on the back specifically with heavyweights. Those who weigh much less may find lying on the bed to be uncomfortable due to no soft foam surface to alleviate this.

For the Luxury Firm mattress, most of its attributes are sufficient to cater to a broad range in bodyweights. If you’re either someone who weighs 130lbs and 250 pounds you will find a sense of peace and ease while sleeping on the back on this type of mattress. Stomach sleepers can benefit from this as well, although it may require extra support for those who weigh more. For side sleepers it’s usually suitable for most body weights but it’s a bit of a hit-or-miss.
Performance
How does the Saatva Classic fare in terms of performance? From motion transfers to durability and even how it behaves during intimate moments, we dug further deep to test the performance of the Saatva Classic. These are the results!
Motion Isolation and Transfer
The Saatva did not stand out in terms of motion isolation when as compared to other hybrid mattresses. The foam layer that makes up the mattress is less than half an inch, however it is able to absorb a substantial amount of motion thanks to its ultra-modern fiber fill. Two of the more firm options might not be able to isolate movements. The Plush Soft variant, however is a bit better when compared to.
In a marriage and looking forward to a mattress where one of you moves and the other would not be able to tell it’s possible that the Saatva Classic may not be the most suitable. We tested it for motion transfer and we noticed that one of our team members slowly lost focus as the other person started moving – from minor to moderate and eventually high-intensity. Innerspring mattresses are known for their poor absorption of motion and the Saatva is made up of innerspring parts. It could be an unsuitable mattress, especially for those who sleep lightly who is often disturbed.
Pressure Relief
Pressure relief refers to the mattress’s ability to relieve tension experienced by the body’s tension points. We evaluated the Saatva’s tension relief levels by laying out a pressure map on its surface. Upon receiving the results, it’s shown that the mattress, in three different levels of firmness offers excellent pressure relief at the back. In terms of shoulder and hip points the relief can differ based on a range of factors, such as firmness level, personal circumstance, and weight. Saatva Mattress Not Picked Up

Temperature Control
Its Saatva Classic mattress may be many things, but we can’t deny that this is one of the best with stunning cooling abilities. The mattress has two layers of spring coil. One of these is wrapped in a pocket. The structure allows air to flow throughout the mattress, ultimately cooling down individuals who usually rest hot. Not only is it able to cool down temperatures, but the pillow top’s cover is made from organic cotton, which makes the Saatva Classic more breathable than other hybrid beds that are made from memory foam. This is the ideal cooling mattress for anyone living in tropical conditions and for couples who, when they are sleeping together, will heat the bed more quickly than one person could.
Edge Support
Edge support is the measure of how strong edge support is the way that the mattresses’ edges hold up. For the Saatva Classic, the edges hold up very remarkably. Upon testing, we ruled that they were noticeably solid enough to allow people to lie on their edges without having to worry about sinkage, sagging or falling off the mattress. This is caused by an encasement of foam that is wrapped around the coil layers inside the mattress. The durability can differ based on the firmness level that are present in the Saatva. Couples, for example, may not feel too much sagging on those with the Firm and Luxury Firm choices, but might feel a certain degree of discomfort around the edges when using the Plush Soft. In addition heavier people might experience more sinkage than lighter ones.
Sex
When you are with your spouse and are sexually active it is crucial to find an appropriate mattress that will respond well when it comes to having intimate moments. This is where the Saatva Classic comes in, offering a great combination of the ability to respond and friction, making it designed for a variety of sexual activities. The pillow top conforms to the bodies in close to the bed’s surface while the innerspring base causes the bed to be buoyant enough to permit movement however not so loud as to create the irritating sounds of squeaking. The strong edge support allows the couples to take full benefit of the entire area of Saatva. Although it’s Plush Soft comfort level may offer a decent amount of traction for sex but it did not feel as comfortable when compared to its more rigid counterparts.
Off-gassing
The Saatva Classic is made out of synthetic foam. But the thing that sets it apart from others is how it doesn’t occupy a large portion in the bed. This means that it doesn’t smell as unpleasant upon purchase and delivery. When we received the Saatva mattresses to test, we noticed how, instead of the typical boxes of cardboard the delivery staff came in to set up the bed for us. We also inspected whether it emits less of the usual “new mattress” smell as compared to other mattresses and it went away quickly. It could be due to how it was built. Saatva Mattress Not Picked Up
Ease of Movement
It is the Saatva has been found to be more comfortable in movement than other hybrid mattresses, due to the unique polyfoam/innerspring combination employed as the foundation for its structure. The bed sticks with the shape of the user as they lay on the surface, but returns to its original form quickly as soon as they leave it. To compare, mattresses with a memory foam top conform to the body per usual, but the feeling of being ‘trapped in comfort is stronger, making it a bit difficult for the user to leave.

Noise
Innerspring beds have earned themselves some bad rap over the years due to their annoying sounds that get more pronounced with continued use. Saatva Classic, however Saatva Classic, on the other hand, doesn’t fully fall under this stereotype. We’ve already mentioned that the mattress’s core is an encasement of foam that’s wrapped around the coil systems. Not only does it provide solid support around the edges, but also reduces the sound that coils typically produce. When we tried out shifting positions and moving around on the mattress, we noticed that there was less noise, squeak and buzz were generated. However, as that the Saatva mattress has coils supporting it it isn’t likely to have the noise-free capabilities to last for long.
Durability
Now that we managed to test all of the performance tests for Saatva Classic, we can conclude that it is a great mattress. Saatva Classic mattress, the most important thing to think about is some of the questions below: “How durable is the Saatva? How long will it be able for to stand the test of time?” Considering the high-grade quality of the materials and the structure and the way it performs in regards to comfort, relief, and movement and comfort, the Saatva is expected to be sturdy enough to last approximately 7-10 years.
