Firmness and Feel
When searching for the right mattress, firmness and feel are among the most crucial factors. How firm is the Saatva Classic on your body? Do you think it is sturdy enough to hold you up if you sleep in different positions? Or is it too stiff for you? We tried it out to see what we could find!

How firm can the Saatva Classic?
The Saatva Classic has three varying firmnesses: Plush Soft, Luxury Firm and Firm. What is the best choice for you is based on your personal experience and the specific circumstances. If you’re looking to know about it firsthand we’ve put each of the three Saatva Classic versions to the test to see how it performs on our scale of firmness, that ranges from 1-10.
We started our test with our Plush Soft mattress, which we’ve ranked three out of ten. One thing we’ve noticed right from the beginning is how it was extremely comfortable sleeping sideways facing the pillow at the top. It was as if we were closer to getting body-hugged by this version that’s Saatva Classic. Saatva Classic thanks to its soft foundation when compared to other foundations. But, the more flexible feel may not translate well for people who tend to lie flat, either on the stomach or the back. Saatva Foam Topper
Next , we’ve got the Firm version which is a striking difference to Plus Soft in terms of material and stiffness. It was hard to feel our bodies sinking into the mattress. This model certainly lives up to its name! This is especially great for sleepers who lie flat on their backs or stomach because it provides more apparent support. Some people may have issues when it comes to sleeping on their sides. However, we give this rating an 8/10.
When it came to the Premium Firm version, one of the first few things we noticed was how soft the mattress was on the top of the pillow. The coils which hold the mattress together are more firm, which makes this variant of the Saatva mixed in terms of construction. As we lay down flat on our backs, not only did we receive the correct amount of sinking, but also the support that we needed. Similar results could be achieved when sleeping on your stomach, but how about side sleeping? Depending on the different individual experiences of the person, this can be a bit of a hit or miss. That being said, we give this Luxury Firm mattress an 6.5 /10 on the scale of firmness.
Testing with varying body weights
Apart from the test of firmness, we’ve also experimented with how different body weights react when sleeping on three different versions of Saatva Classic. Let’s start first with The Plush Soft mattress. Made from a less sturdy coil foundation and an even soft pillow top It’s not surprising that it’s a favorite among light-weights. People who weigh 130 to 200 pounds may appreciate the body hugging and sinking feel of the Plush Soft, but heavyweights may find these to be an issue. Saatva Foam Topper
The firm mattress could be too stiff for people that weigh under 175lbs, but when you weigh a lot above that, this model is most likely the better alternative. With a stronger foundation across, the Firm variant offers much more reliable support when it comes to sleeping on the side or on the back especially for those who weigh a lot. Those who weigh much less may find lying on the bed to be a bit uncomfortable, with not enough soft foam surface to ease this.

In the case of the Luxury Firm mattress, the majority of its attributes are sufficient to accommodate a variety of body weights. If you’re someone who weighs 130lbs or 250 pounds, you’ll feel a sense of peace and ease while sleeping on your back when you sleep on this kind of mattress. Stomach sleepers may enjoy too, but it might require additional support for those who weigh more. For side sleepers it’s usually suitable for most body weights, but it’s somewhat of a gamble.
Performance
What is the way that the Saatva Classic fare in terms of performance? From motion transfer to durability and even to how it performs in intimate moments, we dug further into the depths to test its capabilities. Here are the results!
Motion Isolation and Transfer
The Saatva is not the best in motion isolation in comparison against other hybrid mattresses. The foam layer that makes up the mattress is less than half an inch, however it is able to absorb a significant degree of movement thanks to its high-tech fiber fill. The two more firm choices may not be able to isolate movements. However, the Plush Soft variant, however, fares a little better in comparison.
In a marriage and you’re looking forward to a mattress where one of you is moving and the other would not even notice it’s possible that the Saatva Classic may not be the ideal. As we tried it for motion transfers, we saw how one of our team members slowly got distracted as soon as the other person started moving – from minor to medium and finally high-intensity. Mattresses made of innersprings have been known for having poor motion absorption and the Saatva happens to be composed of innerspring components. It may as well be a bad mattress choice, especially for those who sleep lightly who’s easily disturbed.
Pressure Relief
Pressure relief is the ability of the mattress to ease out the tension experienced by the body’s tension points. We evaluated the Saatva’s pressure relief levels by laying out a pressure map on the surface. When we have the results, it has shown that the mattress, in three different levels of firmness offers excellent pressure relief at the back. As for the hip and shoulder points it can be different based on a range of factors, such as firmness level as well as personal circumstances and weight. Saatva Foam Topper

Temperature Control
The Saatva Classic mattress may be many things, but we’re able to deny that this is one of the most comfortable that has incredible cooling capabilities. It has two layers of the spring coil, one of which is wrapped in a pocket. The structural frame permits air to circulate through the mattress, ultimately cooling those who normally sleep hot. It’s not just able to cool down temperatures, but the pillow top’s cover is made of organic cotton, which makes Saatva Classic Saatva Classic more breathable than other hybrid beds made with memory foam. This is the ideal cooling mattress for people living in a tropical climate, or for couples that, if they share a bed, can heat the bed more quickly than one person could.
Edge Support
Edge support is a measure of how well those edges stand up to. For Saatva Classic, the edge support is extremely strong. Saatva Classic, the edges remain in great shape. After testing, we concluded that they’re solid enough to allow people to sleep near the edges without worrying about sinkage, sagging, and falling off the bed. This is caused by the foam encasement which is wrapped around the coil layers within the mattress. The durability can differ based on the firmness level and the firmness of Saatva. Couples like this may not feel too much sagging when they choose between either the Firm or Luxury Firm options but may experience a bit of discomfort along the edges with those who choose the Plush Soft. Additionally those who weigh more will feel more sinkage than lightweight ones.
Sex
In the event that you or your companion have a sexually active relationship, it’s crucial to find a mattress that can respond with ease when being intimate with your partner. Here’s the place where Saatva Classic comes in, offering a great combination of responsiveness and friction making fully optimized for a wide range of sexual activities. The top of the pillow conforms to the body when in contact with the surface, while the innerspring foundation causes the mattress to bounce enough to allow for movements but not loud enough for the annoying noise of squeaking. The strong edge support allows the couples to take full benefit of the entire area of Saatva. While the Plush Soft comfort level may offer a decent amount of sexual traction but it did not feel as comfortable when compared to its more rigid counterparts.
Off-gassing
The Saatva Classic is made out of synthetic foam. However, what makes it stand out from others is how it doesn’t occupy a large portion part of the mattress. It doesn’t smell as unpleasant upon delivery and purchase. We received our Saatva mattresses to test we noticed that instead of the standard cardboard box people from the delivery company arrived to put up the bed for us. We also inspected whether it emits less of the typical “fresh mattress smell” in comparison to similar mattresses that went away quickly. It could be due to the way it was constructed. Saatva Foam Topper
Easy of Movement
Saatva Saatva has been shown to have a greater ease of movement compared to other hybrid mattresses due to the interestingly unique polyfoam/innerspring combination employed as the foundation for its structure. The bed sticks to the body of the user as they lay on the ground however it returns to its original form quickly after they have left it. To contrast, mattresses that have a memory foam top are shaped to fit the body as normal, however the feeling of being trapped in comfort is stronger which makes it difficult for the user to leave.

Noise
Innerspring beds have earned themselves some bad rap over the years due to their annoying sounds that get worse upon continuous use. The Saatva Classic, on the other hand, does not meet the criteria of this. As we mentioned before, the mattress’s core is the encasement of foam wrapped around coil systems. It not only provides solid support along the edges, but it also blocks out the sounds that coils typically make. We tried changing positions and moving around on the mattress, we noticed that there was less noise, squeak and buzz were generated. But since that the Saatva mattress is supported by coils, you can’t count on the quiet features to last long.
Durability
After we’ve had the chance to test all of the performance tests for Saatva Classic, we can conclude that it is a great mattress. Saatva Classic mattress, the most important thing to consider is some of the questions below: “How durable is the Saatva? What is the length of time it will be able for to stand the test of time?” Considering the high-grade quality of the materials and structure and the way it performs in regards to relief, comfort, and movement as well, the Saatva should be durable enough to last up to approximately 7-10 years.

Saatva Classic Saatva Classic is composed of at minimum four layers each of which has distinctive capabilities. 4. The Sturdy Foundation Core
