Firmness and Feel

How firm can the Saatva Classic?
The Saatva Classic has three varying degrees of firmness: Plush Soft, Luxury Firm, and Firm. The answer to this question will depend on personal experience and circumstances. But if you want to know about it firsthand We’ve put all three of the three Saatva Classic versions to the test to see how it fares on our scale of firmness, ranging from 1 to 10.
We began our experiment with the Plush Soft mattress, which we’ve put at 3 out of 10. One thing we’ve noticed right from the start is that it feels so comfy lying on the side with the pillow at its the top. It was as if we were more likely to be the body hug by this model of the Saatva Classic thanks to its more supple foundation than other models. However, that more malleable feel might not be a good fit with people who often lie flat, either on their stomachs or on their back. Rate Loom & Leaf Saatva Mattress
Next up, we have the Firm variant, which is a stark contrast to the Plus Soft in terms of materials and rigidity. We barely felt our bodies sinking into the mattress. This variant certainly is up to the hype! This is especially great for those who sleep flat on their backs or stomach since it provides more apparent support. Some people may have issues with sleeping on the side. However we rate this item an excellent 8 out of 10.
In the case of this Luxury Firm version, one of the first things we observed was how soft it felt on the top of the pillow. The coils, meanwhile, that hold the mattress together are firmer, making this particular version of Saatva different in terms of construction. As we lay on our backs, not only did we get the right amount of sinking, but also the support that we needed. The same could be said with sleeping on the stomach, but for side sleeping? Depending on the different personal experiences, it could be a bit of a hit or miss. On that note we rate the Luxury Firm mattress an 6.5 /10 on the range of firmness.
Testing with Varying Body Weights
In addition to the test for firmness We’ve also analyzed how different body weights react sleeping on three different versions of Saatva Classic. We’ll start with the Plush Soft mattress. It is made of a less sturdy coil base and a soft pillow top, it’s no wonder why it’s been favored among lightweights. People who weigh 130 to 200 lbs may like the body-hugging and sinking feeling that comes with the Plush Soft, but heavyweights might have an issue. Rate Loom & Leaf Saatva Mattress
The firm mattress could be too stiff for people who weigh less than 175 pounds, however when you weigh way above that, this model is probably the more suitable choice. With a more solid foundation all over, the Firm variant offers much more solid support when it comes to sleeping on the side or on the back especially among heavyweights. For those who weigh less, they might find sleeping on the bed to be somewhat uncomfortable, as there is no soft foam surface to alleviate this.

With the Luxury Firm mattress, the majority of its features are enough to cover a wide range of body weights. If you’re someone who weighs 130lbs and 250 pounds you’ll experience a sense ease and comfort while lying flat on the back with this type of mattress. Stomach sleepers may enjoy this as well, although it might require additional support for those who weigh more. When it comes to side sleeping it’s generally suitable for most body weights, although it can be a bit of a hit-or-miss.
Performance
What is the way that do the Saatva Classic fare in terms of performance? From motion transfers to durability and even to how it reacts during private moments. We dove further into the depths to test its performance levels. Here are the results!
Motion Isolation and Transfer
The Saatva is not the best in motion isolation as compared to other hybrid mattresses. The foam layer built within is less than half an inch, however the mattress still manages to absorb a substantial amount of motion due to its state-of-the-art fiber fill. The two more firm choices may not be able to isolate the motion. The Plush Soft variant, however performs a bit better in comparison.
In a marriage and looking forward to a mattress where one of you is moving and the other would not be able to tell then you should consider the Saatva Classic may not be the most suitable. As we tried it to see if it could transfer motion, we saw how one of our group members gradually got distracted as soon as the other member started moving – from minor to moderate , and then high-intensity. Innerspring mattresses are known for their poor absorption of motion and the Saatva happens to be composed of innerspring components. It may as well be a poor choice for a mattress for you, particularly for those who sleep lightly who is often disturbed.
Pressure Relief
Pressure relief is the ability of the mattress to relieve tension felt at the body’s pressure points. We evaluated the Saatva’s tension relief levels by laying out a pressure map on its surface. Upon receiving the results, it’s been discovered that the mattress with three different levels of firmness, gives excellent pressure relief in the back. In terms of shoulder and hip points it can be different based on several factors like the firmness level as well as personal circumstances and the weight. Rate Loom & Leaf Saatva Mattress

Temperature Control
Its Saatva Classic mattress may be plenty of things, but we can’t say that it’s one of the best that has incredible cooling capabilities. The mattress is made up of two layers of the spring coil, and one of them is pockets. This structural frame allows enough air to flow throughout the mattress, eventually cooling people who typically sleep hot. It’s not just able to cool down temperatures and keep them cool, but the top of the pillow’s cover is made of organic cotton, making it Saatva Classic more breathable than other hybrid beds made with memory foam. This is the ideal cooling mattress for people living in tropical conditions and for couples that, if they share a bed, can are able to heat the bed faster than one person could.
Edge Support
Edge support is a measure of how well the edges of the mattress hold up. In the case of the Saatva Classic, the edges are incredibly strong. Upon testing, we ruled that they were remarkably solid enough to allow people to rest near the edges without having to worry too much about sinkage, sagging or falling off the bed. This is because of the foam encasement which is wrapped around the coil layers inside the mattress. The strength of the mattress can vary based on the firmness levels that are present in the Saatva. Couples, for example, will not feel too much sinking on those with the Firm and Luxury Firm choices, but might experience a bit of discomfort along the edges with those who choose the Plush Soft. In addition, those who are heavier might feel more sinkage than lightweight ones.
Sex
When you are with your spouse and are both sexually active it is crucial to find a mattress that can respond well when it comes to sharing intimate moments. That’s where Saatva Classic comes in, with a solid combination of both the ability to respond and friction, making it optimized for a wide range of sexual actions. The top of the pillow conforms to the body when in contact with the surface, while the innerspring foundation causes the bed to be buoyant enough to allow for movements, but not too loud for the annoying sounds of squeaking. The firm edge support allows the couples to take full benefit of the entire surface of the Saatva. While it’s Plush Soft comfort level may provide a little sexual traction, it felt quite lacking when compared to its more rigid counterparts.
Off-gassing
The Saatva Classic is made out of synthetic foam, but what makes it stand out from others is how it doesn’t take up a lot in the bed. It doesn’t smell as bad upon the purchase and delivery. We received our Saatva mattresses to test, we noticed how, instead of the typical cardboard box, delivery personnel arrived to put the mattress for us. We also examined how it emitted less of the typical “fresh mattress smell” than other similar ones that went away quickly – this may be due to how the mattress was made. Rate Loom & Leaf Saatva Mattress
Ease of Movement
Saatva Saatva has been shown to be more comfortable in movement compared to other hybrid mattresses due to the unique polyfoam/innerspring combination used as its structural foundation. The bed sticks to the body of the user when they lay down on the surface however it returns to its original form quickly as soon as they leave the bed. To compare, mattresses with a memory foam top conform to the body per typical, but the sensation of being trapped in comfort is much more apparent which makes it difficult for the user to get out.

Noise
Innerspring beds have made a bad rep through the years for making annoying sounds that get worse upon continuous use. Saatva Classic, however Saatva Classic, on the other hand, does not fall under this stereotype. We’ve already mentioned that the mattress’s structure is an encasement of foam that’s placed around the coils. It not only provides solid support at the edges, but also reduces the sound that coils normally make. We tried shifting positions and moving around the mattress, we noticed that less noise and squeaking produced. But since it is the Saatva mattress rests on coils, you shouldn’t expect the no-noise capabilities to last for long.
Durability
We’ve managed to try out all the tests of performance on Saatva Classic, we can conclude that it is a great mattress. Saatva Classic mattress, the most important thing to ask are these questions: “How durable is the Saatva? What is the length of time it will be expected for to stand the test of time?” Considering the high-grade quality of the materials and the structure and how well it performs in regards to comfort, relief and motion and comfort, the Saatva is expected to be sturdy enough to last up to around 7 to 10 years.
Materials
Saatva Classic Saatva Classic is composed of at least four layers each of which has distinctive capabilities. However, when they’re taken together, they make a strong, durable as well as bouncy and reliable hybrid mattress that is suitable to serve any purpose. Let’s have a closer look at all the layers and materials that comprise the Saatva bed.
Layer 1 The Soft and Breathable Surface
The first layer is a 3-inch-thick Euro pillow top that serves to serve as the bed’s sleep surface. It’s composed of a mixture of fiberfill, polyfoam and Dacron to provide a cushioned and comfortable area to lie on. In both Plush Soft and Luxury Firm versions it’s a 1.25-inch thickness of soft polyfoam is used, in contrast, the Firm option uses 1.5″ worth polyfoam that is firm.
This top quilt is made using the specially-designed Lumbar Zone quilting design that is designed to offer much-needed pressure relief for the back and hips. Organic cotton fabric is used to cover the pillowtop surface. Not only is it comfortable and breathable, but it also comes with antibacterial properties.
Layer 2: A Combination of Foam for Enhanced Lumbar Support
In all three levels of firmness, an inch-thick support foam is put under the initial layer to create a much more enhanced lumbar support system. This special foam is composed of these components the majority of the mattress is composed of polyfoam, while the remaining part is made from memory foam. It is strategically placed along the middle of the mattress, allowing that the spine to more align without producing any form of discomfort. Rate Loom & Leaf Saatva Mattress

Layer 3: The Foam-encased Layer of Support
The Saatva’s third layer is a supportive layer as well as one of the two coil systems that compose the mattress. This 4-inch-thick surface of individually foam-wrapped micro coils is responsive enough to adhere to various body shapes and movements that change constantly. It also permits for a breeze of air circulation, keeping the sleeper cool and away from becoming too hot.
Layer 4: Sturdy Foundation Core
Each layer is held by a foundation of durable hourglass steel coils underneath the three layers. Customers can choose between two different heights that are 4 inches for mattresses measuring 11.5″ or 7-inch for 14.5″ beds.
