Puffy is a leading direct-to-consumer mattress dealer in the country. A proudly Canadian-owned and operated company, Puffy made its name in the bedding market through proprietary foam technologies such as their Cooling Cloud foam and their Climate Comfort foam.
While Puffy remains one of the premier North American mattress deals that specialize in fully foam mattresses, they are by far not the only players vying for customer attention. What does Puffy do against other well-known brands? Let’s see.

The Puffy Mattress: An Overview Puffy Vs Wink Mattress
Before getting into any of the comparisons, it’s good to review the ins and outs of Puffy as a mattress company, so we have a better sense of how it stacks up compared to the competition.
Types of Mattresses Available
Puffy has two mattresses available on its website, the Puffy Original and the Puffy Lux. Both mattresses come with a complete run of sizes, from Twin to California King. Both mattresses also share the same construction, save for the Puffy Lux’s additional foam layer bringing its mattress height to 12 inches compared to the Puffy Original’s 10-inch height.
Each Puffy mattress starts with its Cooling Cloud foam, a proprietary foam composition made by Puffy that ensures an even transfer of heat while maintaining a soft plush to better support your body while it sleeps. Assisting the Cooling Cloud foam top layer are Climate Control foam and the pressure-relieving firm support base. Climate Control foam is an intermediary layer between top gel foam and bottom support base, increasing the mattress’s ability to regulate temperature. The support base serves as the final foundation of the entire mattress, giving it structure and preventing you from sinking too deep into the bed. The entire mattress was created with temperature regulation, spine alignment, pressure relief and temperature regulation in mind.
The Puffy Lux has an additional layer of foam, the Plush Dual Cloud foam, giving you two extra inches of foam and helping you ease built of tension in your pressure points from a long day out. Both the Puffy Lux, and Original are covered in hypoallergenic and grippy bottom and top mattress covers.
Price Point of Mattresses
When it comes to choosing the right mattress for you, price is going to be a major determining factor. Puffy’s price point is in the middle of the spectrum. It is not too costly but not necessarily cheap.
A Puffy mattress entry level, which is the original Twin-sized Puffy mattress, will cost you just CAD$750. But be warned that entering the Queen sizes and onwards will have you break the bank with over CAD$1,000 in costs. The Puffy Lux mattress will cost you more than CAD$2,000, and the exact size of the original is also available.
Let’s compare Puffy to other brands online, now that we have all the details.

Puffy Mattresses vs. Emma Mattresses
Emma is a common sight online these days, especially recently through their rigorous usage of online marketing. Puffy, a proudly Canadian business, is Emma’s source for their technologies. Their German-born designs are specifically geared towards temperature control as well as spinal alignment.
Ready to ship anywhere, will This European-designed bed beat puffy?
There are many types of mattresses available
The Emma Original mattress uses a proprietary foam technology, much like Puffy, that is designed to give a soft and plush feel without sacrificing any of the bounce that you might expect from a well-structured mattress. This hybrid and balanced softness can be attributed to their memory foam and latex foam technologies. Their leading foam later used in all their mattresses is called Airgocell and is designed to adapt to pressure to better respond to body movements while sleeping.
Beneath this top layer of Airgocell is Emma’s visco-elastic memory foam, which acts as a secondary layer of plush foam between the Airgocell and the supportive base layer. This is similar to Puffy’s construction of their Cooling Cloud foam and their pressure release foam layers on top of their firm supportive core foam. Though what’s interesting with Emma’s mattresses is that their supportive foundational foam (the bottom-most layer) has ridges all around its top, which is meant to provide an additional spinal alignment benefit and counter any pressure you put on the mattress.
Unlike Puffy, Emma only sells the original version of their popular mattress. Emma does not sell Emma Lux or Emma Premier types, but the standard 10-inch mattress Emma uses to pull its entire catalog.
Price Point of Mattresses
Since Emma only has one type of mattress, it will be easier to compare the prices to Puffy’s Original mattress. Emma certainly makes it much easier for new customers to try out their mattresses as their entry-level price point is at a low CAD$419 compared to Puffy’s CAD$700 twin-sized beds. Even Emma’s Queen-sized mattress is less expensive than Puffy’s twin.
Also, Emma’s single mattress offering avoids any of the tough higher price choices that Puffy has. You won’t need to choose between a standard or premium version as Emma has backed all its focus on its standard size.
Final Winner
Puffy has Emma beat when it comes to choice. You can choose from a variety of mattresses, including premium and original versions, as well as additional accessories such sheets, covers, pillows and bases.
Emma has one advantage over Puffy: the price. Emma is a lot cheaper than Puffy, but offers the same premium comfort. Emma has similar customer protection plans, with warranties and trial plans identical to that of Puffy. If you’re a newbie to the mattress scene or just aren’t looking to spend too much on a new mattress, Emma might be the brand for you.

Puffy Mattresses vs. Nectar Mattresses
We now have Nectar, a proudly New York-raised mattress manufacturer. Once viewed as one of the fastest-growing e-businesses in the US as well as a top place to work, Nectar promises a suite of different mattresses shipped directly to your door.
Nectar uses similar foam technologies to Puffy and provides different mattresses that expand its catalog of beds available. This expanded catalog will be the difference between Nectar and Puffy.
Types of Mattresses Available
Nectar has not 1, not 2, but 3 total mattresses available on its website for purchase, all with varying degrees of softness, plushness, and even material compositions. Already Nectar has Puffy beat with the number of choices, but it’s still to be determined if more choices equal a better mattress brand.
Nectar’s first mattress is their original Nectar Memory Foam 12-inch mattress. The five layers of this mattress are similar to the Puffy foam mattresses. Their Nectar Smart Layer is the first layer. This gel memory foam helps relieve pressure due to its high density construction.
The Nectar Smart layer is supported by two additional foams: the Nectar Dynamic support Layer and their Stay Stable Support Layer. These foams help stabilize your body as you sleep, minimize motion transfer, and keep the mattress on the base. All this is enveloped in Nectar’s quilted Cool Cover, which helps regulate temperature, and Nectar’s shift-resistant lower cover, which allows stability by acting as an outer grip to the bed frame. The Nectar Memory Foam mattress may be a good choice if you are looking for a mattress that is medium-firm and allows your body to be wrapped in memory foam as you sleep.
There is a Premier version of the Nectar Memory Foam mattress that looks similar to the Puffy and Puffylux versions. The Nectar Premier memory foam mattress has all the bells and whistles of the standard Nectar Memory Foam mattress. However, it comes with a thicker and more advanced Nectar Smart Layer, now with enhanced ActiveCoolHD. The total height of the mattress is now 13 inches. This foam is specially designed to help regulate your body temperature and keep the mattress cool while you sleep.
The Nectar Premier Copper mattress is the last and most expensive mattress available from Nectar. This mattress combines everything good about the previous two Nectar mattresses and adds more thickness to each layer. The mattress is 14 inches thick, so you won’t feel anything but the supportive and plushy comfort. To add to this, the maximum temperature regulating quilted cover is upgraded to include copper-infused threads that help dissipate heat and other heat conductive fibers that keep the mattress cool to the touch.
Price Point of Mattresses
If we’re talking about price points, then Nectar comes in reasonably affordable $499 for their Twin sized original memory foam mattress. You won’t need to add too much if you want a queen size and larger, as these mattresses come in at $899 and up.
The premium versions are more expensive and will take more out of your pocket. The queen-sized Nectar Premier will set you back $1299, while you can get the more luxurious Nectar Premier Copper for $1699. Still, these mattresses are already a great deal thicker than the ones Puffy has on offer. The Puffy Lux still comes in more expensive at its largest sizes compared to the largest of these Nectar mattresses.
Even better for Nectar is that all purchases usually come with $399 in freebies. These freebies may change depending on the season but typically include mattress covers, protectors, and pillows. Every purchase comes with a lifetime guarantee, a full year trial, and free shipping to make it even easier.
Final Winner
Nectar appears to be a better choice than Puffy in terms of cost and the sheer number of options that are available to customers. Even the value of each purchase of a Nectar mattress is better by comparison as Nectar throws in additional freebies on top of the purchase itself.
Nectar’s only problem would be its inability to sell products to residents outside the US. Puffy ships only to Canada; Nectar ships only to the US. Your choice will eventually be dictated by where you are located in the world.

Puffy Mattresses vs. Casper Mattresses
Casper had to be included. Casper was not included in a comparison of the best soft drinks. Despite Casper’s price point being a common comparison for newer brands, it remains one of the top choices for most shoppers when looking for a new mattress.
Puffy uses Casper’s higher price points as a clear point to try out the cheaper Puffy mattress. Can Casper be beaten by this Canadian brand?
Types of Mattresses Available
Unlike Puffy’s limited options, Casper impresses with four different mattresses to choose from, 3 of them having two variants each. This means that Casper has roughly seven mattresses you can choose from depending on your sleep style and preferences.
Casper’s first mattress, a traditional foam mattress, uses two layers of foam to construct its entire construction. Known as the Element mattress, this is Casper’s entry-level mattress for those looking for something simple with no frills. Casper uses their proprietary Airscape perforated foam as the top layer of their mattresses to better let heat escape while you sleep. Below this is their high-density foam base that prevents sagging and supports your whole body while you rest.
The Casper Original is next on the Casper catalog. The Casper original uses three different layers of foam now, the first being the classic Airscape foam, which is then supported by their Zoned Support Memory Foam and the standard base support foam. The Zoned Support foam is unique because it is essentially an area-specific memory foam, with some parts being firmer than others depending on which component needs more support (hence the term zoned).
The Casper Original can be purchased as a hybrid mattress. Hybrid mattresses are more popular these days as they combine the new memory foam technology with the consistently improved and reliable design of inner coils you may be used to in older mattresses. These Casper coils add lift to your bed and structural support to help you stay in bed when you need to and get out of it when you’re done.
The following two mattress types are much more premium than what we’ve seen previously. The Casper Nova Hybrid Snow Mattress is specifically designed for heat regulation. Its multilayer foam and coil technology are excited with cooling gels, thermal bands, and even cooling mattress covers to help bring the mattress a much desired cool-touch sensation.
Lastly, the Wave Hybrid is Casper’s premium mattress with supportive sleep in mind. This mattress features the same cooling technology as the Nova Hybrid Snow mattresses. The Wave’s main selling point is the three additional layers of perforated foam. This provides the support you require without feeling stiff. Casper’s premium throughout bed design will provide you with the best spinal support and comfort.
Price Point of Mattresses
Here comes Casper’s most popular pain point: its price. It’s no secret that Casper tends to edge towards the premium side when pricing their mattresses, but the price you’ll need to pay for some of their more premium mattresses is ridiculous at times. Puffy Vs Wink Mattress
Casper has its entry-level Element mattress at a manageable $545 for a twin size. At queen size and larger, you can expect to spend at least $800 to be able to get your hands on a Casper Element.
The Original, Nova and Wave variants are all expensive. A queen-sized mattress is not cheap, so they cost over $1,000. This number doubles for the Nova and Wave variants, with the King size reaching about $4,500 for the Wave mattress.
Final Winner
It’s easy to say Puffy wins out here for its simplicity and its price point. People on a tight budget won’t be able to pay twice as much for a Casper mattress if they can find a mattress that is equally good, or better, at a lower price.

Puffy Mattresses vs. Nolah Mattresses
Nolah is another proudly American mattress company that specializes in both foam mattresses and hybrid mattresses. Nolah doesn’t use old materials such as pure foam latex and memory foam, but instead uses their AirFoam mattress layers. Puffy Vs Wink Mattress
Nolah’s foam is stated to be 100% temperature neutral and provides better pressure relief for your joints. Let’s see how this compares to the mattresses Puffy has on offer.
Types of Mattresses Available
Nolah has three distinct mattresses on offer, the Noah Original 10-inch, the upgraded Nolah Signature 12-inch, and the luxury Nolah Evolution 15-inch mattress. Both the Original and the Signature share many of the construction designs as both are fully foam mattresses. The Nolah Evolution proves to be the outlier as it is hybrid in design and uses Nolah’s bed inner-coil configuration.
Signature and Original mattresses have the same three layers of foam. The first is Nolah’s AirFoam, which provides temperature regulation and pressure relief. The following two layers, which are the Deep Resiliiance Foam and the High-Density Base Foam, provide additional support to these functions. Signature mattresses have extra thickness in their foam layers, and an additional firm AirFoam layer underneath the base foam. This allows you to easily adjust how firm or soft you would like your mattress to feel. Puffy Vs Wink Mattress
Nolah’s Evolution mattress is Nolah’s best-selling model. This is due to the HDMax Eco Support Coils Nolah created to provide better pressure relief, additional cooling, and structural support around the edges.
Price Point of Mattresses
Despite being one of the newer direct-to-consumer mattresses out there, Nolah prices close to how higher-end mattress dealers price their mattresses. The starting Queen size Original mattress costs $899, and the Nolah Evolution doubles that to $1600. Although it’s not as expensive as Purple or Casper, it’s still not a bargain.
Final Winner
Nolah is still cheaper than Puffy, despite being more expensive in the price range. Nolah has more options than Puffy, which makes it a better mattress dealer. However, you will need to be in the United States to get their wide selection of mattresses.

Puffy Mattress vs. DreamCloud Mattress
Our final contender for the list, DreamCloud’s mattresses are built with luxury in mind, without reaching inordinate prices. DreamCloud is a hybrid mattress brand that specializes in providing quality mattresses at affordable prices. Puffy Vs Wink Mattress
Let’s take a look at what DreamCloud has to share.
Types of Mattresses Available
DreamCloud sells three mattress on their website: the DreamCloud original and DreamCloud Premier. The bed’s hybrid coil-and-foam construction is similar. However, the higher-end models have more layers and thickness.
The DreamCloud original, and by extension the rest of the DreamCloud series of mattresses, start with five essential layers to how their mattresses are made up. Their gel memory foam is the first layer. It contours to your body as you sleep. This is then supported by their Sink-In-Just-Right layer, the Targeted Support Coil layer, and the essential base foam layer, which all help the top layer provide optimum comfort without sacrificing support. This is all enveloped with their top layer of cashmere-quilted top mattress layer to give a nice soft and cooling touch when you lay on the mattress. Puffy Vs Wink Mattress
The DreamCloud Premier Rest and DreamCloud Premier Rest are identical mattresses. They have additional layers of foam and higher support coils. The Premier Rest gives the Premier Rest a higher height. This is the main difference between the two mattresses. Every Premier version includes pressure-relieving foam layers as well as enhanced support layers. All designed to provide maximum comfort.
Pricing Point for Mattresses
Despite having three mattresses of varying qualities available on their website, DreamCloud does keep their entry-level prices accessible to most at $699 for their Twin size original mattress. Although some DreamCloud models can be quite expensive, they don’t exceed $2,000 in price. This says a lot for a mattress brand that makes a more complicated hybrid mattress approach without raising prices too much. Puffy Vs Wink Mattress
Every purchase comes with $399 worth goods such as additional pillows, mattress protectors and sheets. You can rest assured that your DreamCloud purchase comes with a lifetime warranty as well as a full year of no-strings-attached sleeping trial.
Final Winner
DreamCloud’s mattresses are more flexible and supportive than traditional memory foam mattresses Puffy, while still being affordable. If you’re part of DreamCloud’s serviceable areas, we would highly suggest trying one out for you.
In Summary Puffy Vs Wink Mattress
It seems that Puffy is correct about its claim of being more accessible in price than Casper. Puffy seems to be behind other brands in terms of functionality, price, and reach.
Puffy will be a top choice for Canadian residents. But if you’re a US resident, you won’t be able to get Puffy to your doorstep anyway, so we recommend going with another brand that services the US directly. If we were to choose, DreamCloud’s advanced hybrid technologies seem to shine amongst all the brands we’ve reviewed so far, and we would suggest giving their website a visit if ever you’re in the market for a mattress.
