Firmness and Feel
When you are looking for the perfect mattress, the firmness and feel are just some of its essential factors. How firm is the Saatva Classic on your body? Does it have enough strength to support you if you sleep in different positions? Are you finding it too rigid to your liking? We tested the mattress for ourselves to see what we could find!

How Firm can the Saatva Classic?
The Saatva Classic has three varying levels of firmness: Plush Soft, Luxury Firm, and Firm. The answer to this question depends on personal experience and specific circumstances. However, if you’d like to learn more about it from the inside, we’ve put each one of three Saatva Classic versions to the test to determine how they perform on our firmness scale, ranging from 1 to 10.
We began our experiment with The Plush Soft mattress, which we’ve ranked as 3/10. One thing we’ve noticed right off the beginning is how it was extremely comfortable sleeping on its side, with the pillow on the top. We felt as if we were closer to getting in the body that’s Saatva Classic. Saatva Classic thanks to its more supple foundation than other ones. But, the more flexible feeling might not work with people who often sleep flat – either on their stomachs or their back. Jeffco Upholstery Saatva
Then, we’ll have the Firm variant which is a striking opposite to Plus Soft in terms of material and stiffness. We could barely feel our bodies sink into the mattress. The model certainly does live up to its name! It is particularly beneficial for people who sleep on their backs or stomach since it provides more obvious support. Certain people might have problems when it comes to sleeping on the side. But despite this we rate this product an excellent 8 out of 10.
In the case of this Luxury Firm version, one of the first things we observed was how soft it felt on the top of the pillow. The coils which hold the mattress together are more firm, making this version of Saatva one that is mixed in construction. When we lay flat on our backs, not only did we get the right amount of sinking, but also the support that we required. Similar results could be achieved for sleeping on the stomach, but for side sleeping? Depending on the different experience of each person’s, the situation can be unpredictable. That being said, we give the Luxury Firm mattress an 6.5 /10 on the scale of firmness.
Testing using a variety of body weights
In addition to the test for firmness, we’ve also experimented with the way different body weights respond when sleeping on three variations that comprise the Saatva Classic. We’ll start with the Plush Soft mattress. Made out of the less durable coil base and a more soft top layer, it’s no wonder why it’s been favored among lightweights. Average-weighing folks between 130 to 200 pounds might appreciate the body hugging and sinking sensation from this Plush Soft, but heavyweights might find them to be an issue. Jeffco Upholstery Saatva
The firm mattress could be too rigid for those that weigh under 175 pounds, however when you weigh more than that, this mattress is likely to be the best alternative. With a more solid foundation all over the firm mattress, it provides much more solid support when sleeping on your side or on the back particularly with heavyweights. Those who weigh much less could find lying on their bed a bit uncomfortable, with the mattress not having enough soft foam to remedy this.

For this Luxury Firm mattress the majority of its attributes are sufficient to cater to a broad range of weight a person can carry. If you’re either someone who weighs 130lbs and 250 pounds you will find a sense of relief and relaxation sleeping flat on the back with this type of mattress. Stomach sleepers may enjoy this as well, although it could require more support for heavier folks. For side sleepers, it’s generally good for most body weights but it’s somewhat unpredictable.
Performance
What is the way that do the Saatva Classic fare in terms of performance? From motion transfers to durability and even to how it reacts during private moments. We delved further into the depths to test the performance of the Saatva Classic. Here are the results!
Motion Isolation and Transfer
The Saatva is not the best in its motion isolation, in comparison to other hybrid mattresses. The foam that is built into is thinner by only half an inch, however the mattress still manages to absorb a significant degree of motion due to its state-of-the-art fiber fill. Two of the more firm options might not be effective in separating movements. Its Plush Soft variant, however is a bit better in comparison.
If you’re in a relationship and you’re looking at a mattress in which one of you is moving and you don’t have to even notice, it’s possible that the Saatva Classic may not be the most suitable. As we tried it to see if it could transfer motion and we noticed that one of our team slowly got distracted as soon as the other person started making movements – from minor to moderate and eventually high-intensity. Innerspring mattresses are known for having poor motion absorption and the Saatva is made up of innerspring elements. It could be an unsuitable mattress, especially if you’re a light sleeper who is frequently disturbed.
Pressure Relief
Pressure relief refers to the mattress’s capacity to reduce the pressure that is felt by the body’s pressure points. We determined the Saatva’s pressure relief levels by placing the map of pressure on the surface. After receiving the results, it has been discovered that the mattress in three different levels of firmness gives excellent pressure relief in the back. In terms of shoulder and hip points the relief can differ based on several factors including the level of firmness as well as personal circumstances and weight. Jeffco Upholstery Saatva

Temperature Control
The Saatva Classic mattress may be numerous things, but we’re able to deny that this is one of the top ones with stunning cooling abilities. It has two layers of the spring coil. One of these is wrapped in a pocket. This structural frame allows enough air to circulate through the mattress, ultimately cooling those who normally rest hot. Not only is it able to cool down temperatures however, the pillow’s cover is made from organic cotton, which makes it Saatva Classic more breathable than other hybrid beds made with memory foam. This is an ideal cooling mattress for those who live in a tropical climate, or for couples who, if they sleep together, are able to heat the bed faster than just one person can.
Edge Support
Edge support is a measure of how well edge support is the way that the mattresses’ edges can support. For the Saatva Classic, the edges are incredibly strong. In our tests, we found that they’re sturdy enough to allow individuals to lie on their edges without having to worry much about sagging, sinkage, and falling off the mattress. This is caused by the foam encasement which is wrapped around the coil layers in the mattress. The sturdiness may vary depending on the level of firmness and the firmness of Saatva. Couples, for example, may not feel too much sliding when they choose between either the Firm or Luxe Firm choices, but might experience a bit of discomfort at the edges of those who choose the Plush Soft. In addition those who weigh more might feel more sinkage than lighter ones.
Sex
When you are with your spouse and are both sexually active, it’s crucial to find a mattress that can respond well when it comes to having intimate moments. This is where the Saatva Classic comes in, offering a great combination of the ability to respond and friction, making it optimized for a wide range of sexual activities. The pillow top conforms to the bodies in close to the bed’s surface while the innerspring base causes the mattress to bounce enough to allow for movements but not loud enough to create the irritating sounds of squeaking. The solid edge support permits couples to take full enjoyment of the entire surface of the Saatva. While it’s Plush Soft comfort level may provide a little sexual traction but it did not feel as comfortable in comparison to its more robust counterparts.
Off-gassing
The Saatva Classic is made out of synthetic foam. But what sets it apart from other mattresses is the fact that it doesn’t take up much of the mattress. This means that it doesn’t smell as unpleasant upon purchase and delivery. We received our Saatva mattresses to test, we noticed how, instead of the standard cardboard box, delivery personnel came in to set up the bed for us. We also inspected the way it released less of the typical “new mattress” smell as compared to other mattresses, which went away quite quickly. This could be due to how it was constructed. Jeffco Upholstery Saatva
Easy of Movement
It is the Saatva has been shown to have better ease of movement compared to other hybrid mattresses, due to the interestingly unique combination of innerspring and polyfoam employed as the foundation for its structure. The bed sticks with the shape of the user as they lay on the ground, but returns to its original form quickly when they get off of it. For comparison, mattresses with the top of memory foam conform to the body per usual, but the feeling of being trapped in comfort is much more apparent which makes it difficult for the person get out.

Noise
The innerspring beds have received an unpopular image over the years due to their annoying noisesthat gradually become worse with each use. Saatva Classic, however Saatva Classic, on the other hand, does not fall under this stereotype. As we’ve mentioned earlier, the mattress’s core is an encasement of foam that’s wrapped around the coil systems. This not only offers solid support along the edges, but it also muffles out the noise coils typically produce. We tried changing places and moving around the bed, we were amazed by how there was less noise, squeak and buzz generated. However, since that the Saatva mattress has coils supporting it you can’t count on the quiet capability to last forever.
Durability
Now that we managed to conduct all test of the performance on the Saatva Classic mattress, the most important thing to consider is these questions: “How durable is the Saatva? How long will it be able for to stand the test of time?” Considering the high-grade quality of the materials and structure, and how well it is able to perform when it comes to comfort, relief and movement and comfort, the Saatva is expected to be sturdy enough to last approximately 7-10 years.
Materials
Saatva Classic Saatva Classic is composed of at minimum four layers, each having distinct capabilities. But when put together, they form a strong, durable and bouncy solid hybrid mattress which can be used for any purpose. Layer 2: A Blend of Foam for Lumbar Support with Enhanced
Across all three firmness levels An inch-thick support foam is placed under the first layer, creating a more enhanced lumbar support system. The foam is made up of these components majority of the mattress is composed of polyfoam. The rest is composed out of memory foam.
