How firm is the Saatva Classic?
Saatva Classic Saatva Classic has three varying levels of firmness: Plush Soft, Luxury Firm and Firm. What is the best choice for you depends on the individual’s experience and personal specific circumstances. But if you want to learn more about it from the inside, we’ve put each 3 Saatva Classic versions to the test to determine how they perform on our firmness scale, ranging from 1 to 10.
We started the experiment off by sleeping on our Plush Soft mattress, which we’ve put at three out of ten. One thing we’ve noticed straight off the start is that it was extremely comfortable sleeping on its side, with the pillow on the top. It was as if we were closer to getting the body hug by this model that’s Saatva Classic. Saatva Classic thanks to its soft foundation when compared to other models. However, that more malleable feel may not translate well for people who tend to rest flat, whether on the stomach or the back. Forbes Saatva Mattress
Next up, we have the Firm variant, which is a stark difference to Plus Soft in terms of materials and rigidity. We barely felt our bodies sinking into the mattress. This variant certainly does live up to its name! This is especially great for those who sleep flat on their stomachs or backs because it provides more visible support. Some people may have issues regarding sleeping on their sides. However we rate this item a solid 8 out of 10.
When we looked at the Luxury Firm version, one of the first things we noticed was how soft it felt on the pillow top. The coils which hold the mattress together are more firm, which makes this particular version of Saatva different in terms of design. In this case, as we lay down flat on our backs and slept, we not only have the proper amount of sinking, but also the support that we needed. Similar results could be achieved for sleeping on the stomach, but how about side sleeping? Based on different experience of each person’s, the situation may be unpredictable. That being said, we give this Luxury Firm mattress a 6.5 out of 10 on the range of firmness.
Testing using a variety of body weights
Apart from the firmness test, we’ve also experimented with the way different body weights react when sleeping on three different versions that comprise the Saatva Classic. The first is The Plush Soft mattress. Made out of a less sturdy coil foundation , and a soft pillow top is no wonder that it’s been popular with light weights. People who weigh between 130 and 200 lbs may like the body hugging and sinking feel of Plush Soft. Plush Soft, but heavyweights may find these to be an issue. Forbes Saatva Mattress
The Firm mattress may be too stiff for people with a weight of less than 175lbs, but in the case of those a lot more than that, this mattress is most likely the better choice. With a stronger foundation across the mattress, the Firm model offers much more solid support when it comes to sleeping on the stomach or back, especially for those who weigh a lot. Those who weigh much less might find sleeping on their bed somewhat uncomfortable, as there is the mattress not having enough soft foam to alleviate this.

For this Luxury Firm mattress the majority of its features are enough to cater to a broad range of body weights. If you’re either someone who weighs 130lbs and 250 pounds you’ll find a sense of relief and relaxation sleeping flat on the back with this type of mattress. Stomach sleepers may enjoy too, but it might require additional support for people who are heavier. In terms of side sleeping it’s usually suitable for most body weights, although it can be somewhat of a gamble.
Performance
How does this Saatva Classic fare in terms of performance? From motion transfers to durability and even to how it behaves during intimacy, we dove deeper to determine its capabilities. These these are our findings!
Motion Isolation and Transfer
The Saatva was lackluster in its motion isolation, in comparison to other hybrid mattresses. The foam layer built within is less than half an inch, but the mattress still manages to absorb a substantial amount of movement thanks to its ultra-modern fiber fill. Two of the more firm options might not be effective in separating movements. The Plush Soft variant, however is a bit better in comparison.
In a marriage and looking at a mattress in which one of you is moving and the other doesn’t notice for one bit, it’s possible that the Saatva Classic may not be the best. We tested it for motion transfer, we saw how one of our group members gradually got distracted as soon as the other member began moving – from minor to moderate , and then high-intensity. Mattresses made of innersprings have been known for their poor absorption of motion and the Saatva happens to be composed of innerspring elements. It’s also an unsuitable mattress for you, particularly for those who sleep lightly who is easily disturbed.
Pressure Relief
Pressure relief refers to the mattress’s ability to reduce the pressure experienced by the body’s tension points. We evaluated the Saatva’s tension relief levels by drawing the map of pressure on its surface. After receiving the results, it has shown that the mattress, with three different levels of firmness, gives excellent pressure relief in the back. As for the hip and shoulder points, this can vary depending on a range of factors like the firmness level the individual’s situation, as well as the weight. Forbes Saatva Mattress

Temperature Control
The Saatva Classic mattress may be plenty of things, but we’re able to say that it’s one of the most comfortable that has incredible cooling capabilities. It has two layers of spring coil. One of these is wrapped in a pocket. The structural frame permits air to circulate throughout the mattress, eventually cooling down individuals who usually rest hot. Not only is it in a position to reduce temperatures however, the pillow’s cover is made of organic cotton, which makes the Saatva Classic more breathable than other hybrid beds that are made from memory foam. This is the ideal cooling mattress for anyone living in near-tropical conditions, and for couples who, when they sleep together, have a greater chance of heating the bed than one person could.
Edge Support
Edge support is a measure of the strength of edge support is the way that the mattresses’ edges support. For the Saatva Classic, the edges remain in great shape. After testing, we concluded that they were remarkably robust enough to permit people to rest near the edges without having to worry too much about sinkage, sagging and falling off of the bed. This is because of a foam encasement that’s secured around the coil layers in the mattress. The durability can differ based on the firmness level of the Saatva. Couples, for example, might not experience any sagging when they choose between either the Firm or Luxury Firm choices, but might be able to feel a little discomfort at the edges of those who choose the Plush Soft. In addition those who weigh more may feel more sinkage than the lightweight ones.
Sex
When you are with your spouse and are sexually active, it’s crucial to find a mattress that can respond well when it comes to being intimate with your partner. This is where the Saatva Classic comes in, with a solid combination of responsiveness and friction making fully designed for a variety of sexual activities. The top of the pillow conforms to the body when in contact with the surface and the innerspring foundation allows the mattress to bounce enough to allow for movement but not loud enough for the annoying sounds of squeaking. The solid edge support permits couples to take enjoyment of the entire space of Saatva. Although it’s Plush Soft comfort level may offer a decent amount of traction for sex, it felt quite lacking compared to its more firm counterparts.
Off-gassing
The Saatva Classic is made out of synthetic foam. However, the thing that sets it apart from other mattresses is the fact that it doesn’t take up a lot of the mattress. This means that it doesn’t smell as unpleasant upon the purchase and delivery. When we received the Saatva mattresses to test, we noticed how, instead of the usual boxes of cardboard, delivery personnel arrived to set up the bed for us. We also examined whether it emits less of the usual ‘new mattress smell’ as compared to other mattresses that went away quickly – this may be due to how it was constructed. Forbes Saatva Mattress
Ease of Movement
Saatva Saatva has been shown to have a greater ease of movement compared to other hybrid mattresses, due to the interestingly unique polyfoam/innerspring combination used as its structural foundation. The bed sticks against the physique of the person when they lay down on the floor and then regains its original shape quickly when they get off of it. To compare, mattresses with an upper layer of memory foam will adhere to the body in the same way as usual, but the feeling of being trapped in comfort is much more apparent and makes it difficult for the person get out.

Noise
Innerspring beds have earned themselves a bad rep through the years for making annoying noises, which gradually get more pronounced with continued use. Its Saatva Classic, on the other hand, doesn’t fully fit into this category. We’ve already mentioned that the mattress’s inner structure contains an encasement of foam that’s wrapped around the coil systems. This not only offers solid support at the edges, it also muffles out the noise coils normally create. When we tried out shifting positions and moving around on the bed, we were amazed by how less noise and squeaking were generated. However, since that the Saatva mattress is supported by coils you can’t count on the quiet features to last long.
Durability
We’ve managed to conduct all tests of performance with the Saatva Classic mattress, the only thing we have to think about is these questions: “How durable is the Saatva? How long will it be expected to last?” Considering the high-grade quality of the materials and structure and the way it performs when it comes to comfort, relief and motion as well, the Saatva should be durable enough to last about 7-10 years.
Materials
The Saatva Classic is composed of at minimum four layers, each with unique abilities. But when taken together, they make an extremely durable, strong, bouncy, and overall sturdy hybrid mattress which can be used for any use. Let’s take a close review of the various components and layers that comprise the Saatva bed.
Layer 1 Layer 1: A soft and breathable Surface
The initial layer is three inches of thick Euro pillow top that serves for the mattress’s bed surface. It’s composed of a mixture of fiberfill, polyfoam and Dacron to create a soft and comfortable surface to lie on. In both the Plush Soft and Luxury Firm models there is a 1.25-inch thick layer of polyfoam soft is utilized in the Soft option, in contrast, the Firm option utilizes 1.5″ worth of polyfoam that is firm.
The top is quilted with a specially-made Lumbar Zone quilting design that is designed to offer much-needed relief from pressure on the back and hips. Organic cotton is used to cover the pillowtop surface. It is not only soft and breathable, it also has a lot of antibacterial properties.
Layer 2: A Combination Foam for Enhanced Lumbar Support
In all three levels of firmness An inch-thick support foam is put under the initial layer to provide a superior support for the lumbar region. This special foam is composed of these components: more than half of the layer is made of polyfoam, while the remaining part is made of memory foam. It is placed strategically along the center of the mattress, which allows the back to be more aligned without creating any kind of discomfort. Forbes Saatva Mattress

Layer 3 The Foam-encased Support Layer
The Saatva’s third layer is a support layer, as well as it is one of two coil systems that make up the mattress. This 4-inch-thick surface of individually foam-wrapped micro coils is responsive enough to conform to different body shapes and constantly changing movements. It also allows for breezy air circulation, keeping the sleeper cool and away from getting too hot.
Layer 4: The Sturdy Foundation Core
Each layer is held by the solid hourglass steel coils beneath the three layers. Customers can choose between two sizes that are 4 inches for mattresses measuring 11.5″ or 7-inch for 14.5″ beds. The core coils assist the foam-pocketed coils in producing an improved airflow system through the Saatva as well as the quality components are strong enough to support heavier individuals and objects.
