Firmness and Feel
When it comes to searching for the ideal mattress, feel and firmness are only a few of the most important factors. How do you feel the Saatva Classic on your body? How Firm is the Saatva Classic?
The Saatva Classic has three varying firmnesses: Plush Soft, Luxury Firm and Firm. The answer to this question will depend on your personal experience and the specific circumstances. But if you want to learn more about it from the inside, we’ve put each of the three Saatva Classic versions to the test to see how it fares on our scale of firmness ranging from 1 to 10.
We started our test with the Plush Soft mattress, which we’ve rated three out of ten. What we’ve seen right off the beginning is how it was extremely comfortable sleeping sideways facing the pillow top. We felt like we were closer to getting the body hug by this model of Saatva Classic. Saatva Classic thanks to its more supple foundation than other foundations. But, the more flexible feel might not be a good fit for those who rest flat, whether on the stomach or the back. Bodee Saatva
Next up, we have the Firm version which is a striking contrast to the Plus Soft in terms of the materials used and the rigidity. We barely felt our bodies sinking into the mattress. This variant certainly does live up to its name! This is especially great for those who sleep flat on their stomachs or backs since it provides more visible support. Some people may have issues regarding sleeping on the side. But despite this we rate this item a solid 8/10.
When it came to the Luxury Firm version, one of the first few things we noticed was how soft it felt on the pillow top. The coils which keep the mattress in place are more firm, which makes this particular version of Saatva mixed in terms of construction. When we lay on our backs and slept, we not only have the proper amount of sinking and support, but also the sinking that we needed. It’s the same for sleeping on the stomach, but for side sleeping? Based on different experience of each person’s, the situation can be unpredictable. On that note we rate our Luxury Firm mattress an 6.5 out of 10 on the range of firmness.
Testing with varying body weights
In addition to the test for firmness, we’ve also experimented with the way different body weights react when sleeping on three variations that comprise the Saatva Classic. We’ll start with our Plush Soft mattress. Made out of a less sturdy coil foundation , and a softer pillow top, it’s no wonder why it’s been favored among lightweights. Average-weighing folks between 130 to 200 lbs may like the body-hugging and sinking feeling of this Plush Soft, but heavyweights might have an issue. Bodee Saatva
The Firm mattress may be too stiff for those with a weight of less than 175 pounds, however when you weigh above that, this model is most likely the better choice. With a stronger foundation across, the Firm variant offers much more solid support when it comes to sleeping on your stomach or back, specifically among heavyweights. People who weigh less might find sleeping on their bed somewhat uncomfortable, as there is the mattress not having enough soft foam to alleviate this.

In the case of this Luxury Firm mattress the majority of its attributes are sufficient to cater to a broad range of weight a person can carry. If you’re either one who weighs 130 pounds and 250 pounds you will experience a sense peace and ease while sleeping on the back on this type of mattress. Stomach sleepers may enjoy too, but it could require more support for people who are heavier. When it comes to side sleeping it’s generally suitable for most body weights but it’s somewhat of a gamble.
Performance
How does do the Saatva Classic fare in terms of performance? From motion transfer to durability and even how it behaves during private moments. We dove further deep to test its capabilities. Here are the results!
Motion Isolation and Transfer
The Saatva is not the best in motion isolation as compared against other hybrid mattresses. The foam layer built within is only one-half inch, yet the mattress still manages to absorb a substantial amount of motion due to its ultra-modern fiber fill. The two firmer options may not be effective in separating movements. However, the Plush Soft variant, however, fares a little better in comparison.
In a marriage and you’re looking towards a mattress that one of you is moving and the other doesn’t even notice then you should consider the Saatva Classic may not be the best. When we tested it out for motion transfers and we noticed that one of our group members gradually became distracted when the other person started moving – from minor to moderate and eventually high-intensity. Mattresses made of innersprings have been known for having poor motion absorption, and the Saatva is made up of innerspring parts. It could be a bad mattress choice for you, particularly when you’re a light sleeper who’s often disturbed.
Pressure Relief
Pressure relief refers to the mattress’s capacity to relieve tension experienced by the body’s tension points. We evaluated the Saatva’s tension relief levels by placing the map of pressure on the surface. Upon receiving the results, it’s shown that the mattress, with three different levels of firmness, gives excellent pressure relief in the back. For hip and shoulder points it can be different based on a variety of variables, such as firmness level the individual’s situation, as well as the weight. Bodee Saatva

Temperature Control
The Saatva Classic mattress may be numerous things, but we can’t say that it’s one of the most comfortable that has incredible cooling capabilities. The mattress is made up of two layers of the spring coil, one of which is pocketed. The structure allows air to circulate through the mattress, eventually cooling down individuals who usually sleep hot. The Saatva Classic is not only capable of cooling temperatures and keep them cool, but the top of the pillow’s cover is made from organic cotton, which makes Saatva Classic Saatva Classic more breathable than other hybrid beds that are made from memory foam. This is an ideal cooling mattress for anyone living in a tropical climate, or for couples who, if they are sleeping together, will are able to heat the bed faster than one person could.
Edge Support
Edge support refers to how strong edge support is the way that the mattresses’ edges stand up to. In the case of the Saatva Classic, the edges hold up very remarkably. Upon testing, we ruled that they’re solid enough to allow people to rest near the edges without having to worry much about sagging, sinkage, and falling off the mattress. This is caused by an encasement of foam that is secured around the coil layers inside the mattress. The strength of the mattress can vary based on the firmness levels of the Saatva. Couples like this may not feel too much sinking when they choose between either the Firm or Luxury Firm choices, but might feel a certain degree of discomfort around the edges when using the Plush Soft. In addition heavier people will feel more sinkage than light ones.
Sex
When you are with your spouse and are both sexually active, it’s crucial to find the right mattress that responds effectively when having intimate moments. That’s where Saatva Classic comes in, with a strong combination of the ability to respond and friction, making it designed for a variety of sexual actions. The pillow top conforms to the body when in to the bed’s surface, while the innerspring foundation causes the bed to be buoyant enough to allow for movement but not loud enough to produce the annoying sounds of squeaking. The strong edge support allows the couples to take full advantage of the whole surface of the Saatva. Although this Plush Soft comfort level may provide average traction for sex, it felt quite lacking compared to its more firm counterparts.
Off-gassing
Saatva Classic Saatva Classic is made out of synthetic foam. However, the thing that sets it apart from others is how it doesn’t occupy a large portion part of the mattress. This means it won’t smell as unpleasant upon purchase and delivery. As we were receiving the Saatva mattresses for testing We noticed that, instead of the standard cardboard box delivery people from the delivery company came in to set the mattress for us. We also inspected whether it emits less of the typical “fresh mattress smell” as compared to other mattresses, which went away quite quickly. This could be due to the way it was constructed. Bodee Saatva
Ease of Movement
The Saatva has been shown to be more comfortable in movement compared to other hybrid mattresses, due to the interestingly unique combination of innerspring and polyfoam employed as the foundation for its structure. The bed is fixed against the physique of the person when they lay down on the ground however it returns to its original form quickly when they get off of the bed. For comparison, mattresses with an upper layer of memory foam will conform to the body per usual, but the feeling of being ‘trapped in comfort is much more apparent, making it a bit difficult for the user to leave.

Noise
Innerspring beds have made a bad rep through the years due to their annoying noisesthat gradually become worse upon continuous use. Saatva Classic, however Saatva Classic, on the other hand, doesn’t fully meet the criteria of this. As we mentioned before, the mattress’s core is an encasement of foam that’s placed around the coils. Not only does it provide solid support along the edges, it also reduces the sound that coils normally produce. We tried changing positions and moving around on the bed, we noticed how there was less noise, squeak and buzz were produced. However, since that the Saatva mattress rests on coils it isn’t likely to have the noise-free capability to last forever.
Durability
We’ve managed to conduct all tests of performance for the Saatva Classic mattress, the only thing we have to consider is these questions: “How durable is the Saatva? How long will it be expected for to stand the test of time?” Considering the high-grade quality of the material and structure and how well it is able to perform when it comes to comfort, relief and motion as well, the Saatva will be durable enough to last around 7 to 10 years.
Materials
The Saatva Classic is composed of at minimum four layers each of which has distinct capabilities. However, when they’re taken together, they make a strong, durable and bouncy sturdy hybrid mattress which can be used for any purpose. Let’s look at all the layers and materials that comprise the Saatva bed.
Layer 1 Layer 1: A soft and breathable Surface
The first layer is a 3-inch-thick Euro pillow top that serves to serve as the bed’s sleep surface. It’s comprised of a combination of fiberfill, polyfoam and Dacron to provide a soft and comfortable surface for you to lay down on. In both Plush Soft and Luxury Firm versions there is the product is made up of a 1.25-inch layer of soft polyfoam has been used for the soft option, and the Firm option uses 1.5″ worth of polyfoam with a firm texture.
It is then quilted with a specially-made Lumbar Zone Quilting pattern to provide much-needed pressure relief on the hips and back. Organic cotton fabric is used to cover the pillowtop surface. Not only is it comfortable and breathable, but it also has plenty of antibacterial qualities.
Layer 2: A Combination Foam for Lumbar Support with Enhanced
In all three levels of firmness, an inch-thick support foam is placed beneath the first layer, creating a more enhanced lumbar support system. This special foam is composed of the following the majority of the mattress is composed of polyfoam. The rest is composed of memory foam. It is strategically placed in the middle of the mattress, allowing the back to be more aligned, without producing any form of discomfort. Bodee Saatva

Layer 3: The Foam-encased Layer of Support
The Saatva’s third layer is a support layer, as well as another of the coil systems that make up the mattress. This 4 inches-thick layer of wrapped micro coils made of foam is flexible enough to conform to different body shapes and movements that change constantly. It also allows for breezy air circulation, keeping the sleeping person cool and preventing them from becoming too hot.
4. The Sturdy Foundation Core
Holding all three layers is the solid hourglass steel coils beneath them. Customers have the option of choosing between two different heights that are 4 inches for mattresses that measure 11.5″ or 7-inch for 14.5″ beds. These coils help the foam-pocketed coils to produce an increased airflow system within the Saatva, plus the industry-grade components are strong enough to support heavier individuals as well as objects. Around them is a strong foam perimeter encasement.
