Firmness and Feel

When you are looking for the perfect mattress, the firmness and feel are just some of its most crucial aspects. How firm is the Saatva Classic on your body? How firm can the Saatva Classic?

Saatva Classic Saatva Classic has three varying firmnesses: Plush Soft, Luxury Firm and Firm. Answering this query is based on the individual’s experience and personal conditions. However, if you’d like to learn more about it from the inside we’ve put each of the three Saatva Classic versions to the test to determine how they perform on our scale of firmness that ranges from 1-10.

We started our test using The Plush Soft mattress, which we’ve put at 3 out of 10. What we’ve seen straight off the start is that it feels so comfy sleeping on its side, with the pillow on the top. It was as if we were closer to getting the body hug by this model of the Saatva Classic thanks to its soft foundation when compared to other ones. However, that more malleable feel may not translate well with people who often rest flat, whether on the stomach or the back. Saatva Cross Section

Then, we’ll have the Firm variant, which is a stark opposite to Plus Soft in terms of the materials used and the rigidity. We barely felt our bodies sink into the mattress. The version surely does live up to its name! This is particularly great for sleepers who lie flat on their backs or stomach because it provides more visible support. Some users may take issues regarding sleeping on the side. But despite this we rate this product an 8/10.

In the case of this Luxury Firm version one of the initial things we noticed was how soft it was on the top of the pillow. The coils, meanwhile, which hold the mattress together are firmer, making this particular version of Saatva one that is mixed in construction. As we lay on our backs We not only have the proper amount of sinking, but also the support that we needed. It’s the same when sleeping on your stomach, but for side sleeping? Based on different personal experiences, it can be a bit of a hit or miss. In that regard, we give the Luxury Firm mattress an 6.5 /10 on the firmness scale.

Testing with varying body weights

Apart from the test of firmness, we’ve also experimented with how different body weights respond when sleeping on three different versions of Saatva Classic. The first is The Plush Soft mattress. Made from the less durable coil foundation and an even softer pillow top, it’s no wonder why it’s been favored among lightweights. People who weigh between 130 and 200 pounds may appreciate the body hugging and sinking sensation that comes with the Plush Soft, but heavyweights might have an issue. Saatva Cross Section

The firm mattress could be too stiff for those who weigh less than 175 pounds, but for those who weigh way over that, this version is likely to be the best alternative. With a more solid foundation all over, the Firm variant offers much more reliable support when it comes to sleeping on the stomach or back, especially with heavyweights. Those who weigh much less could find lying on their bed uncomfortable due to no soft foam surface to alleviate this.

In the case of the Luxury Firm mattress, the majority of its features are adequate to cater to a broad range of weight a person can carry. If you’re someone who weighs 130lbs and 250 pounds you’ll feel a sense of peace and ease while sleeping on the back on this type of mattress. Stomach sleepers might like the same, however it may require extra support for people who are heavier. In terms of side sleeping, it’s generally good for most body weights, but it’s a bit of a hit-or-miss.

Performance

What is the way that the Saatva Classic fare in terms of performance? From motion transfers to endurance and even to how it reacts during intimate moments, we dove deeper to determine its performance levels. These are the results!

Motion Isolation and Transfer

The Saatva is not the best in terms of motion isolation when compared to other hybrid mattresses. The foam that is built into is less than half an inch, but it is able to absorb an impressive amount of movement thanks to its ultra-modern fiber fill. Two of the more firm options might not do well in isolating motions. The Plush Soft variant, however is a bit better in comparison.

If you’re in a relationship, and you’re looking at a mattress in which one of you is moving and you don’t have to even notice then it’s possible that the Saatva Classic may not be the best. When we tested it out for motion transfer, we saw how one of our group members gradually lost focus as the other person started moving – from minor to moderate , and then high-intensity. Innerspring mattresses are known for their poor absorption of motion, and the Saatva is composed of innerspring parts. It could be an unsuitable mattress for you, particularly when you’re a light sleeper who is frequently disturbed.

Pressure Relief

Pressure relief refers to the mattress’s ability to reduce the pressure that is felt by the body’s pressure points. We evaluated the Saatva’s pressure relief levels by drawing a pressure map on its surface. When we have the results, it has been discovered that the mattress with three different levels of firmness, provides stellar pressure relief at the back. For shoulder and hip points it can be different based on several factors like the firmness level, personal circumstance, and the weight. Saatva Cross Section

Temperature Control

Its Saatva Classic mattress may be many things, but we couldn’t say that it’s one of the top ones with stunning cooling abilities. The mattress is made up of two layers of spring coil, one of which is wrapped in a pocket. This structural frame allows enough air to flow throughout the mattress, ultimately cooling those who normally are hot to sleep on. It’s not just capable of cooling temperatures, but the pillow top’s cover is made from organic cotton, which makes the Saatva Classic more breathable than other hybrid beds made with memory foam. This is an ideal cooling mattress for anyone living in a tropical climate, or for couples that, if they share a bed, can are able to heat the bed faster than one person could.

Edge Support

Edge support is the measure of how strong edge support is the way that the mattresses’ edges can stand up to. In the case of the Saatva Classic, the edges are incredibly strong. In our tests, we found that they were remarkably robust enough to permit people to sleep near the edges without worrying about sinkage, sagging or falling off the mattress. This is because of a foam encasement that’s secured around the coil layers inside the mattress. The sturdiness may vary depending on the firmness level and the firmness of Saatva. Couples for instance, may not feel too much sagging on either the Firm or Luxe Firm options but may feel a certain degree of discomfort along the edges with those who choose the Plush Soft. In addition those who weigh more may experience more sinkage than lightweight ones.

Sex

If you and your partner have a sexually active relationship it is crucial to find the right mattress that responds effectively when sharing intimate moments. This is where the Saatva Classic comes in, with a strong combination of responsiveness and friction making fully designed for a variety of sexual activities. The top of the pillow conforms to the body when in contact with the surface, while the innerspring base causes the bed to be buoyant enough to permit movement however not so loud as to create the irritating noise of squeaking. The firm edge support allows couples to take benefit of the entire surface of the Saatva. Although this Plush Soft comfort level may offer a decent amount of traction for sex however, it was a bit sluggish in comparison to its more robust counterparts.

Off-gassing

The Saatva Classic is made out of synthetic foam. But the thing that sets it apart from others is how it doesn’t occupy a large portion part of the mattress. This means that it doesn’t smell as bad upon the purchase and delivery. When we received the Saatva mattresses for testing We noticed that, instead of the usual cardboard box the delivery staff arrived to set up the bed for us. We also inspected how it emitted less of the usual ‘new mattress smell’ in comparison to similar mattresses, which went away quite quickly. It could be due to how the mattress was made. Ease of Movement

It is the Saatva has been proven to have better ease of movement than other hybrid mattresses, thanks to the intriguingly unique combination of innerspring and polyfoam employed as the foundation for its structure. The mattress is bonded against the physique of the user as they lay on the surface, but regains its original shape quickly after they have left the bed. To contrast, mattresses that have an upper layer of memory foam will conform to the body per typical, but the sensation of being trapped in comfort is much more apparent which makes it difficult for the person to leave.

Noise

Innerspring beds have earned themselves an unpopular image over the years due to their annoying noisesthat gradually become worse upon continuous use. Its Saatva Classic, on the contrary, doesn’t fall under this stereotype. We’ve already mentioned that the mattress’s structure is the encasement of foam wrapped around the coil systems. This not only offers solid support at the edges, it also muffles out the noise coils normally produce. As we experimented with changing positions and moving around on the bed, we noticed how less noise and squeaking produced. However, since it is the Saatva mattress is supported by coils, you shouldn’t expect the no-noise capabilities to last for long.

Durability

We’ve managed to test all of the test of the performance with the Saatva Classic mattress, the only thing we need to think about is some of the questions below: “How durable is the Saatva? What is the length of time it will be expected to last?” Considering the high-grade quality of the material and structure and how well it is able to perform when it comes to comfort, relief, and movement as well, the Saatva will be durable enough to last up to around 7 to 10 years.

Materials

Saatva Classic Saatva Classic is composed of at the very least four layers each of which has distinct capabilities. However, when they’re combined, they create a strong, durable and bouncy sturdy hybrid mattress that can be used to serve any purpose. Let’s review of the various layers and materials that compose the Saatva bed.

Layer 1: A Soft and Breathable Surface

The first layer consists of a 3-inch-thick Euro pillow top, which is used for the mattress’s bed surface. It’s comprised of a combination of fiberfill, polyfoam and Dacron to create a soft and comfortable surface for you to lay down on. In both the Plush Soft and Luxury Firm versions there is there is a 1.25-inch layer of soft polyfoam is used, in contrast, the Firm option makes use of 1.5″ worth polyfoam with a firm texture.

It is then quilted using an exclusive Lumbar Zone Quilting pattern to offer much-needed relief from pressure on the back and hips. Organic cotton is used to cover the pillowtop surface. It is not only comfortable and breathable, but it also has a lot of antibacterial qualities.

Layer 2: A Combination of Foam for Enhanced Lumbar Support

Across all three firmness levels, an inch-thick support foam is placed under the first layer to provide a better support for the lumbar region. The foam is made up of these components the majority of the mattress is composed of polyfoam. The rest is composed from memory foam. It is placed strategically along the middle of the mattress, which allows your back and shoulders to align, without creating any discomfort. Saatva Cross Section

It also allows for breezy air circulation, keeping the sleeping person cool and preventing them from getting too hot.

4. The Sturdy Foundation Core

The underlying structure of all three layers is a solid foundation made of hourglass steel coils underneath them.
