Firmness and Feel
When searching for the perfect mattress, feel and firmness are only a few of the essential factors. How firm is the Saatva Classic on your body? Does it have enough strength to support you if you sleep in different positions? Or is it too stiff for you? We tried it out for ourselves to see what we could find!

How Firm is the Saatva Classic?
Saatva Classic Saatva Classic has three varying firmnesses: Plush Soft, Luxury Firm and Firm. What is the best choice for you is based on personal experience and conditions. But if you want to get firsthand information about the issue We’ve put all three one of three Saatva Classic versions to the test to see how it performs on our scale of firmness, ranging from 1 to 10.
We began our experiment using The Plush Soft mattress, which we’ve put at three out of ten. One thing we’ve noticed right from the bat is how it felt so comfortable while sleeping on its side, with the pillow on the top. We felt like we were more likely to be body-hugged by this version that’s the Saatva Classic thanks to its more supple foundation than other ones. However, this more flexible feel might not be a good fit for people who tend to rest flat, whether on the stomach or the back. Saatva Air Bed
Next , we’ve got the Firm variant, which is a stark opposite to Plus Soft in terms of the materials used and the rigidity. We barely felt our bodies sink into the mattress. This model certainly lives up to its name! This is especially great for those who sleep flat on their backs or stomach since it provides more apparent support. Some people may have issues regarding sleeping on the side. However we rate this product a solid 8/10.
When it came to this Luxury Firm version, one of the first few things we noticed was how soft it felt on the top of the pillow. The coils which hold the mattress together are firmer, making this variant of the Saatva one that is mixed in design. As we lay on our backs and slept, we not only receive the correct amount of sinking as well as the support that we needed. It’s the same for sleeping on the stomach, but for side sleeping? Depending on the different personal experiences, it could be unpredictable. On that note we rate our Luxury Firm mattress a 6.5 out of 10 scale of firmness.
Testing with Varying Body Weights
Apart from the firmness test, we’ve also experimented with how different body weights react sleeping on three versions of the Saatva Classic. We’ll start with our Plush Soft mattress. Made out of an unsteady coil base and a more soft top layer is no wonder that it’s been popular with light weights. People who weigh between 130 and 200 lbs may like the body hugging and sinking sensation of this Plush Soft, but heavyweights might find them to be an issue. Saatva Air Bed
The firm mattress might be too stiff for those that weigh under 175 pounds, however for those who weigh above that, this model is likely to be the best alternative. With a stronger foundation across the firm mattress, it provides much more solid support when sleeping on your belly or the back especially for those who weigh a lot. People who weigh less may find lying on the bed to be uncomfortable due to the mattress not having enough soft foam to alleviate this.

With this Luxury Firm mattress most of its features are adequate to cater to a broad range in bodyweights. If you’re either someone who weighs 130 lbs or 250 pounds, you’ll experience a sense ease and comfort while lying flat on the back with this type of mattress. Stomach sleepers may enjoy the same, however it may require extra support for heavier folks. In terms of side sleeping it’s generally suitable for all body weights, but it’s somewhat unpredictable.
Performance
How does this Saatva Classic fare in terms of performance? From motion transfer to durability and even how it reacts during private moments. We dove deeper to determine its capabilities. Here these are our findings!
Motion Isolation and Transfer
The Saatva was lackluster in its motion isolation, as compared with other hybrid mattress. The foam layer built within is thinner by only half an inch, however the mattress still manages to absorb an impressive amount of motion thanks to its high-tech fiber fill. The two more firm choices may not be effective in separating movements. Its Plush Soft variant, however performs a bit better in comparison.
If you’re in a romantic relationship and looking at a mattress in which one of you moves and the other doesn’t notice for one bit then you should consider the Saatva Classic may not be the best. We tested it for motion transfers and we noticed that one of our team slowly lost focus as the other person started moving – from minor to moderate and eventually high-intensity. Innerspring mattresses have been notorious for having poor motion absorption and the Saatva happens to be composed of innerspring parts. It may as well be a bad mattress choice for you, particularly if you’re a light sleeper who’s often disturbed.
Pressure Relief
Pressure relief refers to the mattress’s ability to ease out the tension felt at the body’s pressure points. We evaluated the Saatva’s pressure relief levels by drawing an image of pressure on its surface. When we have the results, it’s revealed that the mattress, with three different levels of firmness, offers excellent pressure relief at the back. For hip and shoulder areas the relief can differ based on a variety of variables, such as firmness level, personal circumstance, and the weight. Saatva Air Bed

Temperature Control
Its Saatva Classic mattress may be numerous things, but we’re able to deny that this is one of the top ones with stunning cooling abilities. The mattress is made up of two layers of the spring coil. One of these is pocketed. The structural frame permits air to circulate throughout the mattress, ultimately cooling people who typically are hot to sleep on. Not only is it able to cool down temperatures and keep them cool, but the top of the pillow’s cover is made from organic cotton, making Saatva Classic Saatva Classic more breathable than other hybrid beds that are made from memory foam. It is a great cooling mattress for anyone living in near-tropical conditions, and for couples who, if they share a bed, can are able to heat the bed faster than a single person.
Edge Support
Edge support is the measure of how well the edges of the mattress can stand up to. For the Saatva Classic, the edges are incredibly strong. Upon testing, we ruled that they were noticeably solid enough to allow people to rest near the edges without having to worry too much about sinkage, sagging and falling off of the mattress. This is due to a foam encasement that’s placed around the coils within the mattress. The durability can differ based on the firmness levels and the firmness of Saatva. Couples, for example, might not experience any sinking when they choose between those with the Firm or Luxury Firm alternatives, however they may experience a bit of discomfort at the edges of the Plush Soft. In addition, those who are heavier might experience more sinkage than lighter ones.
Sex
When you are with your spouse and are sexually active it is crucial to find the right mattress that responds with ease when having intimate moments. That’s where Saatva Classic comes in, offering a great combination of the ability to respond and friction, making it designed for a variety of sexual actions. The pillow top is shaped to the bodies in close contact with the surface while the innerspring base causes the mattress to bounce enough to permit movement but not loud enough to produce the annoying sounds of squeaking. The strong edge support allows couples to take advantage of the whole space of Saatva. While this Plush Soft comfort level may provide a little traction for sex but it did not feel as comfortable in comparison to its more robust counterparts.
Off-gassing
Saatva Classic Saatva Classic is made out of synthetic foam, but what sets it apart from other mattresses is the fact that it doesn’t take up much in the bed. This means it won’t smell as bad after purchase and delivery. When we received the Saatva mattresses for testing We noticed that, instead of the standard boxes of cardboard people from the delivery company arrived to set the mattress for us. We also inspected the way it released less of the typical “fresh mattress smell” as compared to other mattresses and it went away quickly. This could be due to how it was constructed. Saatva Air Bed
Easy of Movement
The Saatva has been shown to have a greater ease of movement compared to other hybrid mattresses, due to the interestingly unique polyfoam/innerspring combination employed as the foundation for its structure. The bed sticks with the shape of the person once they lie down on the floor and then regains its original shape quickly when they get off of it. To contrast, mattresses that have an upper layer of memory foam will adhere to the body in the same way as normal, however the feeling of being ‘trapped in a comfortable environment’ is more prominent, making it a bit difficult for the person to get out.

Noise
Innerspring beds have earned themselves some bad rap over the years due to their annoying noisesthat gradually become worse with each use. The Saatva Classic, on the other hand, doesn’t fully fall under this stereotype. As we mentioned before, the mattress’s structure is an encasement of foam that’s placed around the coils. This not only offers solid support along the edges, it also reduces the sound that coils usually create. When we tried out changing places and moving around the bed, we noticed how less noise and squeaking generated. But since it is the Saatva mattress is supported by coils, it isn’t likely to have the noise-free capability to last forever.
Durability
Now that we managed to test all of the performance tests with the Saatva Classic mattress, the only thing we need to consider is these questions: “How durable is the Saatva? What is the length of time it will be expected for to stand the test of time?” Considering the high-grade quality of the material and structure and how well it performs when it comes to relief, comfort, and motion as well, the Saatva will be durable enough to last up to about 7-10 years.
Materials
The Saatva Classic is composed of at minimum four layers, each having unique abilities. When they are combined, they create a strong, durable and bouncy solid hybrid mattress that can be used to serve any purpose. Let’s have a closer look at all the components and layers that comprise the Saatva mattress.
Layer 1 The Soft and Breathable Surface
The initial layer is an inch-thick Euro pillow top used as the mattress’s sleeping surface. It’s made up of a mix of polyfoam, fiberfill, and Dacron to provide a cushioned and comfortable area to lay on. In both the Plush Soft and Luxury Firm versions it’s a 1.25-inch layer of soft polyfoam has been used, in contrast, the Firm option uses 1.5″ worth firm polyfoam.
This top quilt is made using an exclusive Lumbar Zone Quilting design to provide much-needed pressure relief on the hips and back. Organic cotton is used to cover the pillowtop surface. It is not only breathable and soft, but it also comes with antibacterial qualities.
Layer 2: A Blend of Foam for Lumbar Support with Enhanced
Across all three firmness levels An inch-thick support foam is placed under the first layer, creating a superior support for the lumbar region. This particular foam is made of the majority of the mattress is composed of polyfoam. The remainder is made of memory foam. It is strategically placed along the center of the mattress. This allows the back to be more aligned without producing any form of discomfort that might arise. Saatva Air Bed

Layer 3: The Foam-encased Support Layer
The Saatva’s third layer is a support layer and additionally, one of the two coil systems that compose the mattress. This 4-inch-thick surface of individually foam-wrapped micro coils is responsive enough to bind to various body shapes and movements that change constantly. It also facilitates breezy air circulation, which keeps the sleeper cooled and away from getting too hot.
4. The Sturdy Foundation Core
The underlying structure of all three layers is a foundation of durable steel hourglass coils that are underneath them. Customers can choose between two sizes that are 4 inches for mattresses that measure 11.5″ or a 7-inch layer for 14.5″ beds. The core coils assist the coils with pockets of foam to create an increased airflow system within the Saatva and the high-quality components are strong enough to withstand the weight of heavier people and other objects.
