Firmness and Feel

How firm Is the Saatva Classic?
The Saatva Classic has three varying degrees of firmness: Plush Soft, Luxury Firm, and Firm. The answer to this question will depend on personal experience and conditions. However, if you’d like to learn more about it from the inside we’ve put each 3 Saatva Classic versions to the test to see how it fares on our scale of firmness which ranges from 1 to 10.
We started the experiment off with The Plush Soft mattress, which we’ve put at three out of ten. The one thing that we’ve observed right from the start is that it felt so comfortable while sleeping on its side, with the pillow on at the top. It was as if we were getting body-hugged by this version of Saatva Classic. Saatva Classic thanks to its soft foundation when compared to other foundations. But, the more flexible feel might not be a good fit with people who often rest flat, whether on their stomachs or on their back. Saatva Rotate Mattress
Then, we’ll have the Firm version, which is a stark opposite to Plus Soft in terms of the materials used and the rigidity. It was hard to feel our bodies sinking into the mattress – the version surely does live up to its name! It is particularly beneficial for those who sleep flat on their backs or stomach, as it offers much more obvious support. Certain people might have problems when it comes to sleeping on their sides. However, we give this rating an excellent 8 out of 10.
In the case of the Premium Firm version one of the initial things we noticed was how soft it felt on the top of the pillow. The coils which hold the mattress together are firmer, making this version of Saatva one that is mixed in design. As we lay on our backs, not only did we get the right amount of sinking and support, but also the sinking that we required. The same could be said for sleeping on the stomach, but what about side sleeping? Based on your personal experiences, it can be hit-or-miss. That being said we rate the Luxury Firm mattress an 6.5 /10 on the firmness scale.
Testing with Varying Body Weights
Apart from the test of firmness, we’ve also experimented with the way different body weights react when sleeping on three versions that comprise the Saatva Classic. Let’s start first with The Plush Soft mattress. Made out of an unsteady coil foundation and an even more soft top layer It’s not surprising that it’s been favored among lightweights. Average-weighing folks between 130 to 200 lbs may like the body hugging and sinking feel that comes with this Plush Soft, but heavyweights might have an issue. Saatva Rotate Mattress
The Firm mattress may be too stiff for those with a weight of less than 175lbs, but for those who weigh a lot over that, this version is likely to be the best option. With a more solid foundation all over the firm mattress, it provides much more reliable support when it comes to sleeping on the side or on the back specifically for those who weigh a lot. For those who weigh less, they might find sleeping on the bed uncomfortable due to not enough soft foam surface to alleviate this.

With this Luxury Firm mattress, most of its attributes are sufficient to accommodate a variety of weight a person can carry. If you’re either one who weighs 130 pounds or 250 pounds, you will experience a sense peace and ease while sleeping on your back when you sleep on this kind of mattress. Stomach sleepers may enjoy too, but it might require additional support for people who are heavier. In terms of side sleeping it’s generally suitable for most body weights, but it’s somewhat unpredictable.
Performance
How does this Saatva Classic fare in terms of performance? From motion transfer to durability and even how it performs in intimate moments, we delved deeper to determine its capabilities. Here is the result!
Motion Isolation and Transfer
The Saatva is not the best in its motion isolation, compared with other hybrid mattress. The foam that is built into is thinner by only one-half inch, yet the mattress still manages to absorb a substantial amount of motion due to its high-tech fiber fill. The two more firm choices may not be able to isolate motions. However, the Plush Soft variant, however performs a bit better in comparison.
If you’re in a romantic relationship and you’re looking towards a mattress that one of you moves and the other would not even notice then you should consider the Saatva Classic may not be the most suitable. As we tried it for motion transfer, we saw how one of our group members gradually lost focus as the other member started doing movements, ranging from minimal to medium and finally high-intensity. Mattresses made of innersprings have been known for having poor motion absorption, and the Saatva happens to be composed of innerspring elements. It could be a bad mattress choice, especially for those who sleep lightly who is easily disturbed.
Pressure Relief
Pressure relief refers to the mattress’s ability to relieve tension that is felt by the body’s pressure points. We evaluated the Saatva’s tension relief levels by drawing an image of pressure on its surface. Upon receiving the results, it’s been discovered that the mattress in three different levels of firmness gives excellent pressure relief in the back. For shoulder and hip points, this can vary depending on a range of factors including the level of firmness as well as personal circumstances and the weight. Saatva Rotate Mattress

Temperature Control
The Saatva Classic mattress may be many things, but we’re able to be more certain that this is one of the best with stunning cooling abilities. The mattress is made up of two layers of the spring coil. One of these is wrapped in a pocket. This structural frame allows enough air to circulate throughout the mattress, eventually cooling those who normally are hot to sleep on. It’s not just capable of cooling temperatures, but the pillow top’s cover is made from organic cotton, which makes it Saatva Classic more breathable than other hybrid mattresses made of memory foam. This is an ideal cooling mattress for people living in a tropical climate, or for couples that, if they share a bed, can have a greater chance of heating the bed than one person could.
Edge Support
Edge support is a measure of the strength of edge support is the way that the mattresses’ edges can stand up to. In the case of Saatva Classic, the edge support is extremely strong. Saatva Classic, the edges remain in great shape. In our tests, we found that they were noticeably robust enough to permit people to rest near the edges without worrying too much about sinkage, sagging, and falling off the bed. This is because of a foam encasement that’s secured around the coil layers inside the mattress. The strength of the mattress can vary based on the firmness levels and the firmness of Saatva. Couples, for example, might not experience any sliding on those with the Firm or Luxe Firm options but may feel a certain degree of discomfort along the edges with those who choose the Plush Soft. Also heavier people may feel more sinkage than the lightweight ones.
Sex
If you and your partner are both sexually active, it’s crucial to find an appropriate mattress that will respond well when it comes to having intimate moments. Here’s the place where Saatva Classic comes in, with a solid combination of both responsiveness and friction making fully designed for a variety of sexual activities. The pillow top conforms to the body when in to the bed’s surface while the innerspring base causes the bed to be bouncy enough to permit movement however not so loud as to produce the annoying squeaking sound. The firm edge support allows the couples to take full enjoyment of the entire area of Saatva. Although this Plush Soft comfort level may offer a decent amount of sexual traction however, it was a bit sluggish in comparison to its more robust counterparts.
Off-gassing
The Saatva Classic is made out of synthetic foam. But what sets it apart from others is how it doesn’t occupy a large portion part of the mattress. It doesn’t smell as bad after delivery and purchase. We received our Saatva mattresses to test, we noticed how, instead of the typical boxes of cardboard, delivery personnel came in to set up the bed for us. We also examined whether it emits less of the typical ‘new mattress smell’ as compared to other mattresses that went away quickly – this may be due to how the mattress was made. Ease of Movement
Saatva Saatva has been proven to be more comfortable in movement when compared to other hybrid mattresses due to the unique combination of innerspring and polyfoam used as its structural foundation. The bed sticks with the shape of the person once they lie down on the floor and then regains its original shape quickly after they have left the bed. For comparison, mattresses with the top of memory foam are shaped to fit the body as normal, however the feeling of being ‘trapped in a comfortable environment is much more apparent, making it a bit difficult for the person to leave.

Noise
Innerspring beds have made some bad rap over the years for their irritating sounds that get worse with each use. Saatva Classic, however Saatva Classic, on the contrary, doesn’t meet the criteria of this. We’ve already mentioned that the mattress’s inner structure contains a foam encasement that’s been wrapped around coil systems. Not only does it provide solid support around the edges, it also muffles out the noise coils typically create. We tried changing positions and moving around the bed, we noticed how less noise and squeaking were produced. However, as it is the Saatva mattress rests on coils, you shouldn’t expect the no-noise features to last long.
Durability
Now that we managed to test all of the tests of performance with the Saatva Classic mattress, the only thing we need to ask are some of the questions below: “How durable is the Saatva? How long will it be expected for to stand the test of time?” Considering the high-grade quality of the material and structure and how well it performs when it comes to comfort, relief, and motion as well, the Saatva is expected to be sturdy enough to last around 7 to 10 years.
Materials
The Saatva Classic is composed of at minimum four layers, each with distinct capabilities. But when combined, they create a strong, durable as well as bouncy and solid hybrid mattress which can be used for any use. Let’s take a close look at all the layers and materials that compose the Saatva mattress.
Layer 1 The Soft and Breathable Surface

This top quilt is made using the specially-designed Lumbar Zone Quilting design to provide much-needed pressure relief on the back and hips. Organic cotton fabric is used to cover the pillow’s top surface. It is not only soft and breathable, it also has a lot of antibacterial properties.
Layer 2: A Blend of Foam for Enhanced Lumbar Support
Across all three firmness levels An inch-thick support foam is placed beneath the first layer to provide a better support for the lumbar region. This particular foam is made of: more than half of the layer is made of polyfoam, while the remaining part is made out of memory foam. It is strategically placed in the middle of the mattress, allowing the back to be more aligned, without producing any form of discomfort. Saatva Rotate Mattress

4. The Sturdy Foundation Core
